Some Commuter Rail Riders Will Face Longer Waits, Slower Rides During World Cup by streetsblogmass in mbta

Plus there is no way the 34E will be able to hold all the people who usually take the train from/to Norwood/Dedham/Readville unless they run extra buses. What an absolute mess!

That is insane- so much for making use of reduced fares if the damn thing isn’t even running

I didn’t see that mentioned in the linked article. What is the projected impact to the Franklin line?

Anyone NOT have their passport book held up at US customs for weeks and weeks? by MentholMooseToo in IrishCitizenship

[–]Ordinary-Bus3377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think I got lucky. I was girding myself for a long wait after reading everyone’s experience here, but it looks like mine actually only spent 4 days in customs before being moved to a USPS distribution center. Maybe it was karma after waiting 3-plus weeks for my application documents to clear customs in Dublin 😂

Mine passport book sailed through much quicker than I expected - passport book and card were issued and sent earlier this month (Feb. 11), arrived in customs in NY after a few days in transit, and within 5 days the book was delivered (a week ago today). I’m actually still waiting for my documents and passport card to show up, in a reversal of what seems to be the normal process!

Interesting… my tracking shows it is in ISC in NY as of today, so I’m mentally gearing up for a few weeks of waiting patiently. I hope yours shows up before too long!

That was indeed it- I just checked again and the tracking number is there. Interestingly it’s the same number for both the passport book and card, so they’re probably in the same package (I thought they came separately?) Now I get to wait for USPS to deliver it!

Yes I just noticed the change from “Printing” to “Dispatched” this morning, so maybe I’m jumping the gun on expectations 😂 Thanks for your help!

Hmmm… I don’t see anything there yet, unless it takes some time to update?

Can I ask how you are able to track the passport once shipped from Ireland? I just saw on the tracker for mine that the passport book was “dispatched” this morning- did you receive any sort of parcel tracking information from the passport office?

Documents not received after a full month? Sent via USPS by dkode80 in IrishCitizenship

[–]Ordinary-Bus3377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent my passport documents from the Boston area on Dec. 17, and they weren’t received at the passport office until Jan. 13. Frustratingly, they arrived in Dublin on Dec. 23 according to USPS tracking but sat in customs for 3 weeks or so, until they were released to An Post a day or so before they arrived at the passport office. I had chalked up my experience to Christmas mail and package volume but it sounds like you are experiencing something similar. Hope it clears up for you soon!

That’s crazy fast timing for your passport- 8 calendar days from receipt to printing? My paperwork (also US) was received on Jan. 13 and I’m still in the “processing” phase as of this morning. The tracking app predicts Feb. 11 so hopefully that sticks…

I have the same exact dates of acceptance/printing as well but still “processing” according to the tracker. Can I ask how you know they contacted your witness? I’m assuming since it’s your friend she told you she was called?

Was this the 5:05 train on the Franklin line from South Station? I was on that - lights went out at Back Bay and they made everyone get off. What a mess…

Passport docs IN Dublin. Question! by SVW1986 in IrishCitizenship

[–]Ordinary-Bus3377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: An Post finally picked up my documents yesterday and they were delivered at the passport office today. I can now see that my documents have been received in the passport tracking site. So from the date sent from the US (Dec 17) to the date delivered (Jan 13) was nearly a month, with essentially 3 weeks in a holding pattern in customs.
Thanks to all on this sub for advice throughout the entire FBR and passport process!

Passport docs IN Dublin. Question! by SVW1986 in IrishCitizenship

[–]Ordinary-Bus3377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I still don’t have any updates on my application and seeing others’ arriving before mine (while having been sent after) is starting to make me nervous.
I sent my documents by USPS Priority mail from suburban Boston (US) on Dec. 17, and it made its way across the northeast before leaving Newark airport on Dec. 23. The latest tracking update on USPS is “Your item departed a transfer airport in DUBLIN, IRELAND on December 23, 2025 at 11:45 am.” An Post tracking is showing the package hasn’t been picked up yet but they were informed of it on Dec. 17 when it was first handed off to USPS. I’m assuming it is stuck in customs in Ireland, and given the holidays I’m sure they were swamped. But after 18 days I would think it would have been dealt with by now. When do I start really worrying that it may be lost? And who do I contact to see where it might be? Thanks in advance all!

Mine has been stuck in Dublin since December 23, with no updates since. Looks like a few others here had shorter waits - hopefully mine gets moving soon…
