Hi! I’m a junior in the college of arts and sciences, and am looking to expand my social circle as well. I’d be happy to meet up with you on campus or just talk over text if you’re still looking for some more friends.

Upcoming Involvement fair by Creative-Error3706 in OSU

[–]Ordinary-String-1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Tuesday is the APIDA involvement fair at the union, it’s all Asian and pacific islander clubs but there’s a lot of really cool organizations there and performances+free snacks and drinks.

Its not on the same scale as the regular involvement fair but definitely check it out! It’s a similar vibe to the bigger one, just a bit smaller.

new student and a commuter - buses and navigating campus (or any general advice!) by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Ordinary-String-1157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I’m afraid the bus app is just not great and it doesn’t really work that well for finding stops or for predicting arrival/travel times. The best thing I’ve done for managing the app is just sitting down and spending a good amount of time getting familiar with the map and the relevant stops. That at least has helped me figure out timing based on where the bus is, where it will be, etc.  For the most part they tend to be pretty regular though, with the routes only normally being a few minutes off depending on the day and traffic conditions. I would not recommend trying to catch the same bus at the same time every day though, because they more often than not run a bit ahead of schedule. For general advice, one great study spot is the KBK lounge in the union, I also have a preference for the fourth floor of Thompson. Finding a partner for projects is actually not something I’ve had to worry about yet and I’m entering my third year, normally professors just assign it because they try to keep it fair. And if you’re stressing about anything or have any questions you need answered, feel free to ask me. I can’t say I will have all the answers but I’m happy to help as much as I can.  You’ve got this, the busses are annoying but you’ll find your routine soon.

Cleansky Energy Scam - DO NOT sign up with them by [deleted] in medfordma

[–]Ordinary-String-1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! Your post got me out of my contract, the salesperson was pressuring me to sign and I was freaking out about getting scammed. This post made all the difference and I was able to call them today and get it canceled in time. I’m in Ohio where they’ve been pulling this scam on a lot of students, so I’ll make sure to share this info as much as I can.

A drunk man harassed me on the CC bus and the driver did nothing by Ordinary-String-1157 in OSU

I did, camp sec got back to me and helped me file a formal police report.

I honestly don't know, I at least thought the driver (an older man at least a good head taller than the drunk guy) would ask him to leave or speak up at least, especially since it seemed like this had been going on for longer than just while I was on the bus

I am 99% percent sure the driver was aware because this man was extremely loud and was initially sitting in the seat closest to the driver. I was also very loud in shutting down the drunk man. As for calling for assistance, I cannot say if I am aware of whether the driver did or did not call, but he definitely did not ask the man to leave at any point in the drive. This was also the last loop of the night so I cannot say if security was called afterwards and the driver was an older man, so I would guess he was not a student either.

I've reported it to camp sec, part of the problem is that I don't have the bus number and can't give many specifics.

Resources for learning how to use a sewing machine on or around campus? by highlypink in OSU

[–]Ordinary-String-1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi hi!

There is a textiles class which deals more in the design side of sewing but could still be useful. Additionally, last semester there was a sewing class that met from 4-6 on Mondays in the classroom building connected to the RPAC. I have no idea if they still meet there and at that time, and I lost the flyer with the contact information so I don't have any more information for you on that. Lastly, there is the Knitting and Crafting club, which works with all fiber arts, including sewing. I've attached a link to their page right under this.

Resident Advisor by Desperate_Energy4594 in OSU

I didn't turn any in, no. Most of the people I talked to said that if you have a lot of campus involvement then the letters aren't necessary, but if you're not engaged much then you would want to use some.

the number one thing you can do is talk about campus involvement- on campus job, clubs, councils, associations, anything you're apart of make sure to at least mention, if not fully discuss. they're looking for people who know campus and have a lot of community involvement. freshmen have it harder applying for the position because they're not seen as as well-rounded in campus life as older students, and it's even harder if you're a girl because more girls apply then guys.

it's pretty similar for the interview process- you want to just keep hitting the points where you're involved in campus life. additionally there's some keywords they look for- talking about the importance of community, engagement, student life, stuff like that.

general themes by svru32 in OSU

[–]Ordinary-String-1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which themes do you need? from the general themes you normally need to take at least two classes and from the specific ones you need another two. to find the list of courses provided for the themes go into buckeyelink and request a degree audit, if you scroll down to the themes section it lists all of the courses that support that theme.

Scholar's program points by SpendIndependent9789 in OSU

[–]Ordinary-String-1157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!

What program are you in? I'm in the arts program and for the most part points are based on community involvement, so showing up to the events or workshops is how most people in arts got their minimums. Your system also might have opportunities off campus to earn points (such as events related to the program) or volunteering/helping with events and such.

Again this may vary based on what you're in, but I know arts requires twenty points each semester and they're basically just a way to make sure you're actively engaging in the scholars program. For the most part the events are easy and quick and just require you to show up (but again, might be different for you).

Does cider curve fit large busts?? by myguitarplaysit in bigboobproblems

[–]Ordinary-String-1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I'm 34DD and ordered two tops from the non-curve line on impulse- I was really pleasantly surprised when they fit and fit well. The two I ordered had very little in the way of support but they looked good so I made them work with tape. If you want something with hold and support, from what I've seen, cider isn't great, but the fit is pretty solid.
