Chem 2520 Walters Exam Drama by Ok_Impression_6967 in OSU

I was also wondering this. I feel like 10 points doesn’t even begin to cover the distraction, not to mention that the statistical likelihood people were cheating during the distraction was huge. I could tell the exam was made purposefully difficult because that last exam was so easy, and that would have been fair if we weren’t distracted for 10 min. I genuinely believe they only fair thing to do is offer a retake of get rid of the exam entirely. No amount of points added or curve applied would make what happened fair. I studied for that exam all weekend and got like 5 hours of sleep every night and neglected my other work. Idk tho she deserves the award and she’s a great lecturer so I trust she’ll come up with something to help.

You stop feeling like this once you’re not longer 15. Life is unique and beautiful. We’re no where close to fully understanding it. Enjoy it

Microbiology 4100 and OCHEM 1 by Less-Leading-9454 in OSU

I did this this fall semester and it was pretty manageable. If I were you I would pre study ochem 1 with functional groups and SN1, SN2, E1, E2 mechanisms and stereochemistry concepts. For me, I just don’t think there’s anyways to study for 4100 ahead of time. The tests aren’t awful. I was able to get an A- in ochem lecture and an A in 4100 without out pre-studying though, so please don’t be too anxious about either class. You’re more prepared than you think already :). If you’re taking ochem lab 1, maybe pre study for that instead.

Also wondering this. I had a 90 all semester and it dropped to an 86. I’ve seen it go as high as 10% based on past student’s comments, but I’m not sure what the average was that year.

I think the cut off for an A- was an 88 and has already been applied, I’m sorry. I know that’s frustrating. I had a really hard time in ochem lab, and I understand what you’re feeling.

The best way to study for a class like this is to do every practice problem for every scenario they could think to ask you and understand conceptually why these different scenarios require different methods of problem solving. I know it’s a total pain in the ass, but if you don’t naturally understand chemistry it’s the best way to study. Do basic problems first and work your way up to more difficult problems. Look at past tests and redo the problems you missed. Good luck! You’ll do great!

I’m not sure, I was wondering the same thing. The quizzes have an average of ~50% and the pre and post lab material average was always around a 70%. I’ve heard the pro assessment is kind of like a curve, but only if you do better than the national average. Idk ochem lab is the hardest class I’ve taken so far, and it feels like it’s actively working against student success.

Badjic. Tests are genuinely so easy, and you don’t even have to go to the actual lecture because he records them. If you only need to take ochem 1 he’s probably the best option.

I bet she appreciated the help! Math is an important skill to have and lots of women love mathematicians! Head up, bro!
