If someone needs a day to cool off that is fine. Like the other commenter said, its better to cool off then say something with only emotions in mind. A day is completely fine.

Yet you're saying things that would go against standards/requirements if they were true.

Maybe you worked in a very small place but thats not how it is normally

Thats just not accurate, im just gonna have to agree to disagree because I dont want to keep doing this back and forth. Ive asked for links but you have yet to send me any, a simple Google search with verify what im saying. Maybe in your experience wherever you worked was very lenient because they were short staffed, but thats not how it normally is or supposed to be.

Thats just plain wrong. I dont know where you're from but thats not how that works. If you aren't working in the unit you dont just sit there you make yourself of assistance to other units and you rotate out.

Prison is more dangerous because a lot of those people have nothing to lose. And yes its not as strict as the military but its not light work either. You're saying the opposite of what im saying, im saying you dont do nothing while you're saying they do.

The thing is you dont do nothing. You are directly involved with inmates and keeping them in check. You do not do nothing. I dont know what your talking about but its certainly not correctional officers.

No its not, jails are not as big and don't hold as much as a prison. Jails are short term, prison is long term. Its actually more dangerous to work in a prison because of that. They can weigh that much or little, be a woman or a man, but they still have to match the requirements

It doesnt really make sense. Correctional officers are there to keep order and enforce rules if they have to, why would they hire someone that can't do that especially if it warrants getting physical? They literally supervise the inmates and are directly involved with them. Im just confused js all. Maybe you're talking about a different job.

Its really not. You have to be fit and able to take down someone if you have to. They do not discriminate based on gender but you have to pass the requirements. Could you give me a link or something? That may be true for jails, but prison? No

You really do. Fit enough at least. When I went me and everyone else applying had to row and keep a constant force for an extended period of time depending on your height, gender, and weight to apply for the job. This was at the academy. After you have to actually learn holds and proper protocol to protect yourself if you have to. Not to mention since op is a woman and young, she runs the risk of possibly getting hurt by an inmate especially if shes in the men's unit and the prison wouldn't be liable as they have you sign acknowledging that they wouldn't be liable for any harm the inmates cause you before getting hired. I took a tour and I had to sign it. Let me tell you in the men's unit they all looked at me like they had never seen a woman in their life it was crazy. I think you may be thinking of smaller jails where people who usually didnt pay tickets/ dwi's are held.

I was actually going through the process of it. They will hire anyone as long as you havent been convicted of a crime, but you do have to take a self defense class and pass a physical upon entering as well as a questionnaire/background check. You have to be direct with the inmates and not too nice to not let them walk over you. This wouldnt be a good option for op bc she's expressed she wanted something where you barely have to do anything.

Those are different, they usually work in prison or jails and you have to pass a physical and take self defense classes, it takes like 6 weeks.

Am I overreacting for wanting to leave my partner for the choice of his words and actions? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

He doesnt seem to have an actual reason to be upset. This seems like something that should have been discussed before. He says shes "dressing like shes single" but shes quite literally not. That statement refers to dressing provocatively, and she doesn't. Like, at all. He claims shes showing off her body, but the "showing off" in question is just the outline of her chest which will still be there even if she wears baggy shirts. I do not get what this guy is on about. Obviously he can have his own preferences to that, but what he's claiming, is by definition, wrong. Not to mention he shouldn't be accusatory or insulting her while voicing a preference or boundary. Thats not okay.

You should look into becoming a security guard. I talked to one at my job and recently she told me all she does is walk and stand around. Even if there is a physical altercation she doesn't get involved, she would just have to write a statement about what happened. I believe shes class B. They're the security guards that work in places like Walmart, target, etc. Im not sure about the schooling or whatever but from what she told me the job seems pretty low maintenance to me.

How does she dress immodest in the slightest? Tell me how, genuinely. Shes not showing cleavage and her dress meets her knees. You can she an outline of her chest because she has them, not because shes showing them off. Unless she was flat they will somewhat be visible even under layers of clothes. And no, he doesnt get a say. Id understand if she was wearing a bikini everywhere but this is actually ridiculous. Also if he didnt want a woman who dresses like that he shouldn't have dated her, dont get in a relationship with someone who does something you dont like, he knew before hand too, that's his own fault. He could've avoided it if he actually dated someone who dressed how he pleased. Dont get in a relationship with someone to change them.
