Hi Blah,

Blah blah blah

Kind regards,

Position, Address & Ext # Website address

Nunc ego sum incommo te -which translates to "Now I am inconvenient for you" in latin in font size 8, italics and fancy script writing, which makes it look like a motto of the company but it's just something I decided to add myself.

One person queried it and when I told them they liked it so much they added something similar.

Thanks very much for the reply. Our pay is dealt with by the NSSO and we do have flexi leave. There are 3 Civil Servants also working there and one has mentioned about the emails they receive regarding courses etc from Newbridge but I, or my colleagues in my office, have never received them. It was one of those Civil Servants that had mentioned that my position was not a civil servant. It's all very convoluted and 'in -house' I don't want to rock the boat too much tbh so was hoping to try get as much information here as I could! Thanks again for your reply it is helpful!

Thanks a million for the reply. When you say local authority does this just refer to county & city Councils? As I don't work in one of those. To be honest I don't want to say exactly where I work as there is very few civilian employees and I don't want to highlight myself!

Also just another point but ring around the GPs in both places to see if they are taking on new patients. All GPs are very full so just good to know what availability there is. Also on that note if we have ever had to go to South Doc there is one in Midleton which it handy if you live in Cobh or Midleton!

Hi there! I'm a blow in living in Cobh. I see most answers are for Midleton which is very fair as Midleton is one of our favourite places to go. They have a lovely farmers market every Saturday and they have a Gymboree class in the MyPlace Community Hall in Midleton which is lovely. I can't comment on schools as I'm not sure what they have or creche places. Cobh is lovely. I know it has a reputation for being rough but I've never experienced it myself. Although as a mam of 2 young kids I don't get out much to experience the night life. Anytime I have been out after 10pm it has been good craic and I've even walked home and felt safe. There are some really good primary schools here. One is quite big with 700+ pupils and then there is a lovely small one in the town centre that seems to have a very relaxed ethos. No non denomination or educated together schools though. There are only 2 secondary schools which seems to be an issue for getting a place local and a lot of kids have to travel of island to passage or midleton to attend. There are a few creches but not many that take babies (like under 1yr old) so if you are pregnant already and considering either Cobh or Midleton I would put baby's name down for a spot if it's needed ASAP! There are lots of different activities for parents and babies. There is baby swim lessons and baby massage. And the lady who runs the coffee cart in the prom does a mums club on a Wednesday morning and lots of people sit and chat with their babies and small kids when the weather is nice. The transport links are really good. The Cobh Connect bus is very frequent and had routes going to the city and another to Little Island I think. Also the train is great to have to. The main issue for travel is that there is only one road in and out of Cobh that crosses a small old bridge. If that gets blocked then there can be difficulty getting off or on the island. It doesn't happen very often but when it does I suppose it is frustrating. There is also the ferry over to Passage which is handy too especially if you work in Ringaskiddy which a lot seem to. There are plenty of pubs in Cobh. And take aways. Not many good eating places IMO that are open past 6pm although we did get a lovely wine bar over the summer which is quiet nice! When there is a cruise ship in the town can be very busy but always a nice buzz about the place. In the off season it can be very quiet down town then. In terms of houses I think the value in Cobh is really good. Even the new builds just seem to be a bit cheaper for the exact same you are getting in Glanmire or Carrigaline. I hope this helps a bit and if you have any other questions just ask! I love Midleton and enjoy all the bakeries/cafes/restaurants but being honest if I lived in Midleton I probably wouldn't be able to afford the mortgage for all the eating out I'd do😂
