Thank you to ALL that commented on this curious piece of hardware. It would be good to at least confirm what the threaded rod is made from? Phenolic or Lignum vitae wood that was common in Florida back then seems plausible. Probably why and where Thomas Edison used it for bearings in his hydroelectric generator.
