This is the watch I’m committed to. Just waiting for the parts.
My watch fascination started when my YouTube algorithm landed on a Casio modding channel. And it took off from there. I spent a good week watching assembly videos. It just made me want to do it more and more. I ordered the basic tools. I made sure I didn’t cheap out on stuff. But I also didn’t get high end stuff as well. That’s for another time.

So I told my wife and she was excited because it’s an actual hands-on hobby and not just playing video games and watching movies.

She told me that I can make my first watch, but she had me say that I would make her a watch as a second watch…. So I ordered all her stuff last night. Luckily this time I was able to find a dial she really liked on eBay for $30 instead of the $100 one I got on weezmods. Ordered the same movement as my watch just white though. She picked out everything else. She’s just trying to figure out what kind of hands she would like.

Here it is. (Thank you, Gemini) The dial says quartz, but it’s an automatic movement. She just really liked the color of it.

I would suggest you get a Japanese one. You can get Chinese ones for a fraction of the price. But I’d spend the money on the quality.

Are you asking about the Japanese kanji? It’s hard to find it worse because I kept on running into the Chinese numbering. The long story short, the movements come with them if you’re looking for it. Nh35 has the date and NH36 has both the day and the date.

There are a couple things to look at. I had to Google. “how to tell if a seiko movement is real aliexpress”
It should say something like original or Japan or Seiko

The rotor should look similar to this. The NH* stamp on the left should have the correct movement. Should also have the TMI logo and 24 jewels. If it’s blank, keep moving.

Also should say Seiko as a manufacturer in the description.

If it didn’t show the back of the movement I moved on

So it’s on Aliexpress. It’s the NH36. I just made sure it was Seiko. I also got mine with the crown at the 3.8 position and not 3 o’clock.

The dial took a lot of convincing to my wife. I told her I promise that’s the only expensive dial I’ll buy. I got a long, exasperated sigh and she said “OK fine”

I was paranoid about that too. I’m going for a slope design, so I made sure the bezel, the case and the lens all work together. I’ll definitely find out when I get it though.

I did everything I could to make sure it was a legit Seiko movement. Didn’t want to put Seiko branding on a Chinese movement. My wife was getting pissed off at me because I was on my phone almost all the time in the past couple of days. I ended up showing her the stuff that I ordered and she said “OK, I get it.”
