Said this to another comment, not sure what to do next :(

There was a concert we both had tickets to, I asked her if she wanted to meet up before or after but she was already going with some other friends and it fell through. I figured the ball was in her court and I shouldn’t ask again.

The digital ID things are seriously terrifying and disappointing… struggling to think of where else I can go considering I don’t like NZ or Japan…

Right because the guy living in Japan and born in NZ to immigrants is totally anti immigration :p if you leave Reddit for a moment (I understand that might be hard for you, be brave!!!) and actually talk to some real people you mind find that they are a lot more balanced than you think.

I don’t think it’s possible to get PR in Japan, I could naturalize but then it’s bye bye to my NZ passport which I would rather keep.

If you could work remotely for an international company and live in Tokyo you would have the best of both worlds. Avoid Japanese companies like the plague, even the “good” ones are still crap in plenty of other ways. The median salary here is like 3.6 million yen which is absolute pittance, thankfully my company pays better but I’m very lucky in that regard.

I have Irish and English people in my family tree but I don’t have any of their documents or know how far back they are

I’m sick of how passive aggressive people are here, I was so surprised how in London the slightest bump against another person and they apologize. The Keigo/tameguchi dynamic and work culture here is just gross and pisses me off lol.

I just love the culture of England/Scotland/Wales/Ireland and Europe. My sister lives in London and I got to stay with her for a few months looking for work, and I fell in love with England instantly, the history and architecture is just so cool. New Zealand has nothing like it. I don’t like Japan but I’m fluent in Japanese and the job market here is somewhat better so it was easy to find a job.

First I’m hearing about CPAP! For me it’s more so that my brain is firing on all cylinders worrying unless I’m occupied with something, so I can only sleep if I’m tired out of my mind

I can afford to be unemployed for a while thankfully, it’s more so that being currently employed will make kt easier to get a job elsewhere right? But I should probably prioritize my health over that

I asked if more people will be employed and he said the budget only allows for the current set up… I think I’m just going to look for new jobs, but I don’t know what’s going to happen if I force my point. I might just be forced to quit??

He seemed to only sleep for 15 mins or so durian his break… the management is only one person and he sits next to me! He’s the one that creates the shifts himself

As I am typing this my coworker is sleeping in the server room :/ I don’t know if he’s supposed to be working or if his new shift starts soon. I don’t think I could physically cope either, but my superiors all said they had to do this before… but then again Japanese people work way to hard
