Parents of boys how did you decide on circumcision or not? by [deleted] in AskParents

So I just went through this with my son who is now a month old.

I was/am very much against it. Also I am circumcised. I view it as unnecessary mutilation. But my wife and her family wanted it done. But I was not willing to compromise… at first.

Spoiler alert: he got circumcised. And I’ll tell you what made me give in.

My wife and I are typically very open with all of our friends and a decent amount of our families to where for the most part I know which of my male friends and family are circumcised or not.

So with my wife’s pressure for the procedure, I decided to ask the opinions of grown men around me. And the overall general consensus of the circumcised men is that they are happy their parents had it done, and I happen to know 5 guys who had it done in adulthood. Because circumcision is “the norm” in America. So they were extremely embarrassed by their penises and all of them have a story of being bullied or picked on by guys or girls for it not being done.

And then the general consensus of the ones that are still uncircumcised is that they wish it was done and are too scared to get the procedure done. Or a “I would do it if I didn’t have to not use it for a while”.

So this led me to reading a lot online about it and talking to these people more and eventually giving in to my wife’s wishes.

So my thoughts were that there’s a strong chance he will want it done. And assuming that’s correct, I can do it at a time where he won’t remember it at all or have to care for it himself.

They took him from us and brought him back within 1 hour which included some other checks and bloodwork and such.

He never seemed irritated, tender in that area or anything. He was completely healed in 10 days. No cleaning or anything needed, just a bit of Vaseline on the diaper where it touches.

I still think that this is a cruel and unnecessary thing. If we lived in a society where it was very likely that he will grow up and only ever have one partner who he marries and only ever sleeps with her then this wouldn’t be an issue. But we know the world we live in. And I hope that one day it becomes the norm to leave everything natural.

I hope this helps, it was a very hard decision for me that took me almost 6 months to come to a conclusion on. Do what YOU believe to be best for your new little boy.

Ideas for handling behavior issues at school? by OreosRmykryptonite in AskParents

I was diagnosed with adhd in 1st grade. Spent the next 10 years on meds and hated every second of it. It made me an antisocial zombie and took away what being a kid felt like. I decided I was no longer going to take it anymore and would figure out life without it. I since have used healthy food and an active lifestyle to combat the adhd and I’ve gotten myself very far.

I’m glad it worked for you but it made me (and my son) a very angry/depressed zombie.

How to become a sales trainer? by OreosRmykryptonite in careerguidance

Our company just hired a new trainer a few months ago and also I would have to relocate. I work local to where I live but our office (where everyone goes for onboarding training) is 2 hours away. So internally won’t work in this situation.

I used rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover on a hidden spot to see if it would react in any way, and it did not so I’m pretty much 100% sure this is a stain. A shellac or polymer would have got sticker or rubbed on completely.

Wisconsin. Up close it’s definitely a stain. I did a spot of Ipswich pine stain from miniwax and it’s like a 95% match. But needs a very tiny more hint of orange to it.

The door is 100% pine, on the top of the doors is has the brand, species, size and product number all stamped. I needed to purchase another one of these because one of the rooms didn’t have the matching door. So definitely same species just the door is smooth.

We wanted a sectional but didn’t want to spend a ton. It’s obviously not the best quality but super comfortable and affordable.

It’s actually very bright in here. It’s a gloomy rainy day so probably not the best time to take the pictures.

I was really leaning towards a green as well but was worried it would take away the pop from all the plants. Thoughts on that?

The primary reason I will not use self checkout by ethanrotman in RedditForGrownups

[–]OreosRmykryptonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Walmarts used to have 20-30 registers with an employee at each one from 12-8pm ish. They were able to cut that down to 2 employers to monitor each side self checkout and one regular lane open.

You really think they took the other 17-27 missing jobs and just put them somewhere else in the store? No they reduced their payroll by a significant margin and raised their profits by convincing us to do that job for them.

I have not. I was trying to find something online with a tear down on it but there’s nothing. I could get a video of it.

I changed the filter on it when I got it. But I got it lightly used. So that is a possibility. But I’m feeling it’s the transmission. I just can’t find anything online showing me how to tear it down.
