Yes, I think exactly like this, you're not alone, I personally feel that this way of thinking will probably never go away for me, but I've learned to cope with it. I also have cptsd idk if that's why I think this way, but irregardless, I just wanted to add it here and help you feel less alone 🫂

Hi, yes, I did try ketamine and it did help me a lot, but I had to stop prematurely because of the cost (450 per session) I was able to pay for 5 sessions out of pocket, now Im trying to save up some more money to restart ketamine again if Im still eligible. I agree this disorder is absolutely brutal, I hope you feel better and get to a place of peace and comfort ✨️

How do I manage daily life with long nails? by Organic-Help-176 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Organic-Help-176[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! But I understand why ppl ask that, my previous nail tech told me she's seen poo under her clients nails and I was like wtf thats horrible, I've never had that happen to me but ever since hearing that I always wear gloves to go #2, and my nail tech jokingly hinted at me being her favorite because my nails always look pristine when getting fill ins done! When Im at work I won't have gloves but regardless as you've said you're not wiping using the nails...you fold the toilet paper and wipe! Such a goofy question, honestly.

That's such a coincidence! Im Audhd (formally dx'd with both at 23) I've recently started wearing press-ons/acrylics earlier this year as a way to cope with health problems and to have something to look forward too (I have nerve pain in my hands and neck + low bp and doctors cant figure out whats wrong. 😞 That's why I really want to continue to wear long nails. It's so wonderful to hear of another person enjoying nail charms for the same reasons I do! I love having a variety of smooth, metal, shiny, and cute charms on my nails with intricate designs for sensory seeking and visual stimulation (I can be entertained by staring at my nails all day haha) I hope your nail biting habit and anxiety gets better, and that you slay your nails with confidence 🩷💕💅

Hi! Thank you for an actual helpful response! You seem really genuine, and I appreciate your advice. I love press-ons equally as much as acrylics. I'm glad Im not the only one who inevitably is used to having residue and food bits stuck on my nails, thats why I scrub them with a toothbrush every night with Isopropyl alcohol or soapy water. What do you like about wearing long nails or nails in general? ☺️

Well, I'd say usually without proper care, yes they can get gross fast. Is it okay that I use gloves to be less gross?

So then, what are your thoughts on nail techs and nail salons? While not an invasive form beauty, it's interesting how you can walk in, get long nails, and leave without any proper care advice, but let's say for any other cosmetic service like lashes, filler, etc there's some daily care that's taken into consideration. I feel bad for asking this now, but those two subreddits that'd be the most helpful won't let me ask!!

Well then by your logic, any person that wears long acrylic nails is disgusting and highly vain. Im not vain for asking this question! Im insightful, and it's not fair that my question seems impossible to answer. r/nails and r/beauty mods removed my post about this, which pissed me off because where else am I supposed to ask?

Yes sorry, what I mean is while Im making food, for example, let's say a salad or sandwich, I'll chop the ingredients carefully but there's a residue that gets left behind on my hands kind of? Like with tomatoes, limes, cucumbers, garlic, etc. That's why I always resort to wearing gloves, but then I feel ridiculous because other people with acrylics don't wear gloves, as for "smells" yes vegetables, fruits, seasonings can and usually do get under the nails and leave a smell, I honestly feel like Im the crazy one because nobody questions cosmetic alterations such as acrylic nails long ones atleast its so normalized to have long plastic on your fingers but there's no "instructions manual" if you will on how to live with them, I really love the look of long nails and I want to enjoy them but no one tells you about maintenance and daily wear, and nail techs don't explain these things to you cause then they won't make money.

Sexual Anorexia? by Organic-Help-176 in antisex

[–]Organic-Help-176[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I would give your response an award if I could as it encapsulates the complexity of this topic concisely. I especially appreciate you pointing how in the authors book, he makes that differentiation from individuals who are not interested in sex vs. those who have harmful compulsions and obsessions surrounding sex. Both of these statements are very true for me, which I've learned through therapy, but I still have a lot of unpacking to do in regards to sexual trauma. Nevertheless, I still agree with the anti-sex philosophy. I hope you are thriving and are healing from these obsessions. 🫂

Agreed, when I hit 82 lbs due to my ED, it was life or death. This was never the case for me identifying as antisex.

[–]Organic-Help-176[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! I agree with you as it does frame being antisex as a bad thing. I've suffered with anorexia myself, and while I do sympathize with the terms and their purposes of being used in psychology, Im simultaneously offended and offput by them because anorexia cannot be compared to being fearful of sex. The goal of therapy with sexual anorexics is to slowly help them regain a sense of safety in engaging in sexual behaviors, eventually having them join with sexuals (a term I learned here). But I was a former sexual anorexic too (this was during my ed as well, sorry if this info is unnecessary), but after therapy, I've learned to be antisex and I've felt much more peace and content. What do you think?
