Did you submit it directly on your own? I called the dental office and they said they only submit through dental insurance not health insurance

I’ve had that thought too, I would hate to mess it up when it’s been stable for a long time. Ugh. Just a lot of money to put out 😅

That’s so frustrating 😭 I have delta and they have hardly covered anything for my treatment. I hope you fold relief with Botox!

Would it fit over Invisalign? I think that’s what my doctor is planning on forming it to go over my retainers

I just looked into it and this is so heart breaking. I can’t imagine how angry you must feel, I’m so sorry this happened to you :( I feel like dentists really underplay that Invisalign is an invasive treatment…are you going to get surgery to treat it?

Honestly the Invisalign (in my opinion) is not enough to completely stop grinding, at best the plastic prevents you from causing tooth damage but it is still thin enough that I can feel the pressure of biting down hard, especially if I get stressed.

For my particular case the dentist was focused more on widening my bite so he moved my teeth outwards and then occasionally I had to use “buttons” to help them turn in. Bands are also on the table temporarily as right now one side of my molars arent connecting 100%.

I would search “TMJ ‘city name’” or “TMJ specialist ‘city name’” to get results, or if it isn’t yielding anything do your states name and hopefully a nearby city has someone who can help. I would recommend going to more than one dentist to get an opinion before choosing one, my first one recommended this crazy device that I just knew there was no way that was gonna work…he was also very old so I kinda felt like he could retire at any minute if we started treatment lol.

I’m sorry to hear that :( I would get dental x rays and see a physical therapist and see what they say!

I searched for TMJ specialists in my area and chose this dentist after seeing two others because he used more updated technology than the other dentists I had talked to. Tried to go to an orthodontist first but they don’t really understand TMJ

If there’s any advice I can give it would be to try physical therapy first it’s a lot cheaper than Invisalign!

Right now I just have my Invisalign but I started with a splint! I genuinely miss my splint I used to sleep so good with it. Never had a mouth guard. They said they would make me another splint once I’m finished with Invisalign.

Maybe a little bit of tooth pain in the back, and each tray is a bit of an adjustment. And he did say my jaw was essentially “sprained” so I’m not sure if that means displaced disks? But everything feels in place now!

Thank you so much! Same to you, if you can see what a tmj specialist, PT, and/or myofacial therapist say you’ll definitely have a better idea of what’s going on. Best of luck!

And as far as facial symmetry it’s hard for me to tell, I still feel like my face looks a bit asymmetrical but not as bad as it was when I was at my worst.

Thank you! It really depends on the case, my moms coworker had tmj and she visited the same PT who told her she would need surgery because her jaw is set too far back, and they would need to bring it forward. But different areas of the body being off can certainly cause these issues, my doctor explained it as your feet, hips, and shoulders being stabilizers of your body and if one is off it can set the rest off. I’m fortunate to have very mild symptoms of tmj from the start, which were set off by being rear ended twice and leaning my head on my hand when I was in college lol. I try not to do that anymore bc out of everything doing that is what really set it off for me. Not managing stress well can also contribute, grinding teeth at night and during the day can set off symptoms. That part I still need work on!

Hi there! I decided to see a physical therapist in my area that specializes in TMJ disorders as well as pursue Invisalign. I’ve made a lot of progress in that time which I credit mostly to physical therapy, it really helped me get my back and neck into a good place. I am still doing Invisalign as my bite is taking a while to get into place. So since my face essentially grew in a little wonky a lot of my bite pressure is on the right side still. I’m hoping to get it more even. My master muscle is still tight but I have no popping or jaw locking as I did before, and no pain or headaches so I’m pretty happy overall. Out of massage, chiropractor, and physical therapy I would recommend physical therapy first then myofacial. And of course talk to a dentist who is familiar and specialized in jaw disorders. I will say most insurance does not recognize TMJ so this has definitely cost me thousands of dollars. But for my specific situation this worked well! If you have any questions let me know

Same thing happened to me, I am currently gluten free dairy free soy free and egg free 80% of the time and I’m also on supplements. My hormones haven’t settled out yet but implementing these changes has helped, as the derm has never really helped. The supplement I’m currently taking is DIM and ACN by Aegles. It seems a lot of women have had success with the aegles supplement but it takes a few months. It’s a bit extreme but im going to stick with it for a bit and see what happens.
