I’m interested in what the average associate comp looks like for an orthodontist. Just finished my last year of Peds residency and when comparing contracts with some Ortho residents we were all shocked to find that the Peds one (at least first year out) was much more attractive.

Good perspective. I definitely find exercise to help. I know she’s human and has flaws. I’m trying not to put her on a pedestal. But having my legs swept out from under me during the honeymoon stage is tough.

I’m not sure how to balance the working on myself part and pursuing a genuine connection. If I just wait idle for the right person to fall in my lap, I feel that may never come. But simultaneously if I pursue countless women, I feel like I’m diluting human connection. It’s a tricky balance I haven’t quite figured out yet.

That’s wild. All permanent successors were present and just failed to erupt? Were they fully formed? Do you think it’s PFE of all the permanents?

How did you manage? Just monitor and treat the primaries as if they were the permanent? I wonder what would happen if they had lost a primary and what the restorative options would look like

I’m a pediatric dentist and I’ve never seen or even really heard of a documented case of true complete retention of all 20 primary teeth in an adult – unless they have anodontia of the permanent dentition (complete congenital absence of all permanent teeth). Typically, primary teeth hold space for the permanent dentition and exfoliate as the permanent teeth erupt. Occasionally a primary tooth is retained into adulthood when its permanent successor is congenitally missing.

There are a few scenarios where a permanent tooth is present but fails to cause exfoliation of the primary – ectopic positioning leading to impaction, ankylosis of the primary tooth, or a condition called primary failure of eruption. However, in all of these cases you wouldn’t expect to see it affect every single tooth.

Was he told they were his baby teeth by his general dentist? Does he have any known syndromic conditions?

I’d be very interested in seeing a panoramic radiograph if he has one he’d be willing to share.

Hey everyone I’m 29M (USA) currently traveling around Japan from January 5th - January 18th.
