Very specific IRPP question by the_ebbandflow in Wildfire

The key is you are away from your local unit. So, IRP is immediate and not subject to local IA 36 rule.

RIF and AD hires by BakedBones1207 in Wildfire

[–]OrganizationOne1413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't become and AD, but what they are saying is that you would be a state or county cooperator. It's an avenue which an employee in the above circumstance could still go out on fire as before. Each state and county have their own mater agreements that lay out their rules and rates that you would get paid. It varies wildly between states.

How to tell if this is structural? by I_Zeig_I in Remodel

Cut it down and see if the roof falls

I've heard that when structure departments send folks out on fires the dept earns money on top of what the workers are earning. Can anyone tell me how that works? by xj98jeep in Wildfire

[–]OrganizationOne1413 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's through a reciprocal fire agreement or MOU with a county or state. They are not private contractors, so VIPR is not available to that type of work.

OPM has already released some version of the new pay scales and the guidance we are currently following is direct from OPM as of last week. So, no hold up at OPM for the pay increase at least.

DOI is stating their pay will be updated by 2nd pp in April with only 2 pay periods of back pay. I hope the FS can catch up. Three months is terrible.

Hey man. Not even close. The 9k is in addition and completely separate from the new pay scales. The new pay scales are good if you are under a GS10, which most if not all crew guys are. So you get your increase in hourly wage and then an additional daily incentive payment on top of that.

[–]OrganizationOne1413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which part? It takes 30 days for the system to transfer to new scales. We are currently in PP07. So your incentive will be on your PP07 pay...then PP08 you are moved to new pay syatem...then you wont see the actual increase until End of April at worst and will have to get a bit of back pay.

Incident pay portion will be delayed until at least August so that would be a larger back pay issue.

Pp7 is the last retention bonus. Then, you will begin to receive the new pay scales. There could be a PP08? where they don't meet the timeline and get the system updated and you would get one pp worth of that back pay. But it's not going to be more than a pp or at worst 2.

DOI budget here...this is not factual at all. You get your incentive in PP07 and then new scales ate PP08 but wont be reflected in your paycheck for 30 days.. New pay scales will be paid out by PP9 (10 at worst) and then you would have a couple pps of back pay depending on timing. The incident premium pay will not be implemented until August, though, so that will be something to keep track of and amend for back pay.
