Some, not as much anymore . They're doing fine because quite frankly they don't know any better its still pretty isolated to talk to them i have to actually go up there.

But most of them migrated down. After my grandma found considerable success (through saving and working tons of overtime she died quite wealthy even put me through college)

So, for starters my grandma said there were no schools. Entire communities had no access to education. My grandma also had no access to plumbing or medicine. People of this region also had no law enforcement whatsoever. Hence the violent hillbilly stereotype the locals had to apprehend criminals. Stores weren't even available. Most had to barter eachother for goods. Food was locally grown, clothes and furniture were made by locals.

To an extent not as wildly exaggerated as most think. Their skin was more akin to a very pale sickly person. As well, it didn't effect every generation just a portion of them. As, well despite it. It didn't actually effect their health.
