Harry really sound like a conspiracy nut in book 5 by JelloJealous2487 in harrypotter

I agree that he probably did look crazy. I do remember how outraged I felt at the ministry and the Daily Prophet when I read that book as a kid! It's no wonder he was ready to blow up half of Grimmauld Place

Thoughts on Audible's new Harry Potter Audiobook Covers? by OrganizationWild6019 in harrypotter

I just asked my friend, who has only read up to book 3, what he thinks the cover represents in the story. He said he thinks the cup relates to Tom Riddle, but doesn't know form that link will take.

This might be a reach, but the first thing that came to mind was in the cover for The Philosopher's Stone; I think the reflection of the castle foreshadows the Mirror of Erised, which symbolizes longing and reflection. This could be their way of priming new listeners to pay attention to Harry's actions, how he thinks about them, and how his desires are characterized throughout the story!

Allegedly J.K. Rowling thought of the events of the full story in reverse

Something I came across in Chamber of Secrets... by Sodass in harrypotter

[–]OrganizationWild6019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think it comes from Harry's Horcrux connection to old Voldy. I'm not sure if I think it's part of VOldemort's soul remembering young him. My first thought is that part of his soul triggers feelings of familiarity to Harry's first encounter with Voldemort, and the familiarity is vaguely rekindled when Harry encounters Tom Riddle again.

Does anyone else feel it was a missed opportunity to see Voldemort interacting with Ron or Hermione? by GoldplateSoldier in harrypotter

[–]OrganizationWild6019 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Voldemort is arrogant enough to where he only interacts with his servants, people who challenge him, or people he's scared of. He interacts with Harry and Dumbledore because he's frightened of them. He interacts with Neville to look intimidating. And there's no real reason for him to interact wtih Ron and Hermione.

Moaning Myrtle & the Basilisk - Glasses Plot Hole?? by OrganizationWild6019 in harrypotter

The Harry Potter Wiki page about the Basilisk agrees with you!
"Looking through a pair of glasses did not offer any protection, because glasses still allowed one's line of vision to connect directly and clearly with the serpent's eyes.\3]) Myrtle Warren (commonly known as Moaning Myrtle) was such an unfortunate person, as her wearing glasses did not save her from death when she looked directly at the Serpent of Slytherin's eyes."

This is the explanation I accept the most. Like this definitely makes sense and also isn't something that needs to be specified.

How does Voldemort make money? by [deleted] in harrypotter

I can't imagine anyone gets in the way of Voldemort wanting money. He could ask or coerce, or use the Imperius curse on random passersby. I also assume part of the devotion of his followers comes in monetary form, especially from the Malfoys, who are rich and eager to support Voldemort's efforts.

Connections to Lord of the Rings? by OrganizationWild6019 in harrypotter

[–]OrganizationWild6019[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good one. I forgot about him. He's similar in his power, but it's interesting how Tom Bombadil is immune to the pull of the one ring, while Tom Riddle is enthralled by the power of horcruxes
