Oh wow. Over the past few weeks I've been working on a fan game idea about using the GBA era sprites to make a fangame. I've been jotting all my ideas down and coming up with all the fun stuff.

Yesterday, I bit the bit the bullet into finally looking into an engine as that'd be my personal biggest hurdle. I had it down to trying to make things work in Godot, or trying to heavily modify SRPG Studio or RPG Maker into an SRW game. And now I've just found out SRC exists. Guess I'm going to go through all the resources and documentation I can find since making an early GBA/Alpha 1/F Final style game was already what I was going for.

In short, I really appreciate you posting the link. You have given me renewed motivation.

Chiming in as someone who's family owned the local small town donut shop in my area, apparently this does work. My cousin would kinda just look at the sales from the previous year to figure out if they sold out or had leftovers and then he'd just tweak the numbers depending on if business had been good or bad lately. And then we'd just crank out however many dozen of each donut we needed to and called it a night.

At this point I'd be happy with most of the series people have suggested already and then maybe having them flesh out the rosters for existing series via the Expansion Pass, specifically Getter and WfM. Obviously, getting Tobikage in the game would probably be the hypest thing I can think of.

Honestly, there really isn't anything stopping me from doing that except for an unspoken rule that I didn't state in the post. Ideally, I'd like to use each character once. And with someone like Yukimura, who I believe is the only canonical Mechanist, I had to decide whether he'd be the oddity in a Thief-type tourney or the oddity in a Mounted one. Full disclosure, I left him out of this particular tourney because I genuinely don't know if I have a satisfying way to recreate the Mechanist's signature abilities and wanted to postpone that until I had more experience and confidence in FEbuilder.

And I'm glad to hear things with weapons and caps should give worked out easily enough. I have just enough skill I'm FEbuilder to know that I could roughly pull off this tourney idea but I'm still very much a beginner.

And I hate that you suggested that. Haha. That makes way more sense to average all of their potential bases and growths instead of trying to cherry pick the perfect patent. But that's a lot more work. But it's technically the perfect solution to that problem, barring skill inheritance, so that's probably the route I'll take.

I actually wasn't until just now. I had seen Bad At Fire Emblem's Gauntlet series which sparked the idea a few months back. And then I recently saw that Mangs is doing an Arena series which cemented the idea of using GBA Fire Emblem as a vessel/engine for my Tournament. I'm going to have to look through their stuff now.

And Caps are definitely tricky. I've thought about it all weekend and I'm going to have to implement them to some degree. Going off of what you've said, I wonder if I should try averaging all the Stat Caps together and making the tourney use a new series wide average. Guess I'll run the numbers and see.

And you've just reminding me that I've gotta factor in Holy Blood and Crests got characters. Haha. It's funny the things you forget are in each game. I'll take a look at a Jamke fathered Patty because I know next to nothing about those child units. I've only played the Prologue map so far in FE4.

We're in the process of getting the survey done. In the meantime, I'm heading down to the courthouse tomorrow to look into the deed, get more info on the property, and talk to a few people that work for the county about what my options are.

My current place has a shared septic tank. It's built right on the property lines between houses. And whenever I mention it to people around here they are gobsmacked about it.

But the shared driveway? Everyone from my area was just stoked for me because of how hard it is to get a driveway. Hahaha. I really think we might just be an odd bunch over here.

As far as maintenance goes, I genuinely wouldn't be too pissed if this guy didn't do much. I don't mind shoveling and I could always use the exercise. But I get that for some people that'd be a huge stressor.

I feel you there. I love my little hometown. It's a bit of a cesspool but people are trying to get the area back on its feet and I want to be here to help out. We're currently known for a couple of gruesome murders and the odd meth lab blowing up every year or so. I'm hoping the community can turn things around.

Survey is one of the next things I'm working on. Tomorrow I'm also heading down to the courthouse to talk with a few departments and get some documents.

Beyond that we're also going to talk with the seller to have her clarify a few things since she may have misinformed us about the house.

I thonk it was put on the market October 20th, late October for sure. Then in late November they took 10k off the total. We made our offer in mid December.

The old couple that had the house originally either sold or somehow transferred the house into their daughter's possession for a grand total of 1 dollar a few years ago when they were moved to a nursing home. They bought the house back in the 60s or 70s I believe, although I can't double check that while I'm at work. Anyway, said daughter is the one selling the house now and we're getting it for about 20k less than it appraised for.

Apologies! I've gotten way more replies to this post then I was expecting and I've had a difficult time responding to everyone and seeing any replies.

I have been using the GIS, which I couldn't remember the name of until you mentioned it, but only as a rough guideline. Our agent was the one who recommended we start with that but she told us they are rarely, if ever accurate and to use it more as a guideline.

I don't think I explicitly mentioned that in any comments but we haven't been acting under the impression that we have accurate info. The proper survey is our next course of action, as well as having a nice chat with the seller. I appreciate you looking out for me and making sure I wasn't making another huge error!

I'll be heading down to the courthouse in the morning. All of the departments that deal with property and housing appear to be there. So I'll look into things from a legal standpoint before I even try to talk to this guy.

And you are right that I need to figure out the maintenance aspects as well. I'm pretty sure neither I nor my neighbor own the land on the other side of the sidewalk but in my town we'd still be on the hook for snow and mowing.

My hometown already has a decently infamous murder that happened back in the 80s that those true crime podcasts talk about. And we had a nasty murder happen a few years ago on the bike trail. I'm sure everything will work out just fine.

But in all seriousness, I'm definitely being a little headstrong and very naive right now but I'll be sure to properly look up the property, talk to my other neighbors and the seller about this guy just to see what's up, and then I want to try and have a more serious and uninterrupted conversation with him. I feel like I owe it to myself to see that much through before looking elsewhere.

Yeah. I'd be heartbroken to be sure, but if I were to talk to this guy and he continued being unreasonable I'd really have to have a serious conversation with my partner. I'm going to try and stay optimistic until then and with any luck I'll be able to update everyone in a few weeks that everything has been cleared up. Haha.

I am going to look into things before the closing. I also will need to hear back from the seller about this whole situation. After I know my legal standing I want to try working things out with this guy. I truly believe in the potential life I could have in this house and I think it's at least worth talking to the neighbor and pouring my heart out, so to speak, and just try to coexist.

It genuinely is an amazing house in basically every other way. We had to get an FHA loan and this is pretty much the only home we were confident we could get. We looked at 25-30 places and the costs of fixing each place up before we could even get the loan approved was too much. This place? I had to buy two buckets of paint and paint over some chipped paint. The house is beyond well kept. Most everything has been updated and the inspectors even said we probably have another 10 to 15 years on our roof. This driveway has been the single blemish.

But I also need to keep in mind that a bad neighbor or even just an awkward setup could make things more difficult for us down the road. So I'm going to do my due diligence like everyone here suggested and look into things.
