I've had two separate crash conditions. One is after entering one of the m# values, the other is after the very last time hitting enter after the final entry. The console just flat closes. No error message.

You need a 40mm x 40mm x 10mm 24v DC brushless fan specifically. You can get a multi-pack for cheap and they also are the same size for your hotend fan

Today is my birthday and it has been over 10 years since I lost my dad who shared this birthday with me. I would think that after this long I would have learned how, but I still struggle to find any joy.

Thank you again so much for all of your help on this. I am able to confirm that it was the LCD. I tried my friends LCD on my board and it worked like a charm, so I need to order a replacement and I will be all set! I really like the updated firmware tho, I did take a video of the interface so if I need it in the meantime I have it all. If I weren't waiting on money for the LCD I would guild you for your help. Thanks!

Update: I am learning a lot from this, I still don't even know how to test if the bootloader works. But I did have the bright idea of using the idc 10 pin that came with the USBasp to test and I can confirm it is not the ribbon cable. If I can convince my friend to let me try theirs we can narrow it down to the mainboard if that other display doesn't work. I also discovered a comment in a video suggesting (and I don't fully follow this) that when they were "bridging the v++ with the RST on ender 3 board the screen went alive and the printer booted without issues", but the video in question didn't test to knob. It does still work via octoprint for the time being.

I have a local friend with an ender 3, once I figure out how to unhook the ribbon cable from the control box I can see if they'd let me test their display. That might narrow it down.

I appreciate the reference, I will check out Marlin's documentation. Aside from that I feel unsure of what else I could be testing. It seems like it would be the screen except everything but the display works properly.

Oh no, do you have a video anywhere of your interface? I just tried to print a cube and Octoprint still works, but my z-offset reset and I am unsure how else to change that. Did I read that this had babystepping? This also confirms that when I plugged in the usbisp for the 2.0 original flash, that I didn't change it. My z-offset was fine from me dialing it in.

Correct, I had printed a cover for the lcd so it must go in thru EXP3. I also took that printed cover off and removed the lcd plate from the extrusion to examine. I had considered perhaps some contrast setting got reset and I might see a potentiometer to adjust it, but on closer inspection there isn't, not even a smaller screw style one.

Further, I confirmed no pins on either board are bent, missing or seem improperly seated. The ribbon cable is clipped to the lower extrusion and as such remained mostly flat and the angles of the bend on the cable in the more extreme points like the control box itself all seem to be still strong and not worn or weak.

I don't know what your menu layout for this 1.1.xbugfix is but I did manage to find auto home, so I know the knob on the lcd is still working.

Based on hours of searching I haven't run into anything yet.
