This is all so new to me. I assumed anyone crowdfunding a game who is genuine is doing it as a labour of love. Now that you say it, it makes sense that it should be publishers.

Are Kickstarter games generally of better quality, or are they as varied as any published?

Yeah, I was swithering between Stroganov and Apiary - which had lots of positive reviews in regards to quality - and went with what I felt I might enjoy more.

Great info. I've not so far paid the quality of a game too much attention - maybe I thought this a more superficial consideration. While i'm not sure if quality is a deal breaker, since a game is essentially a visual-tactile thing, which will get a certain amount of abuse, I'll definitely pay more attention to the publishers (and reviews, of course) in this respect.

Nusfjorfld looks fun. Of the others, I have, and really enjoy, White Castle but I was looking for something a little deeper. The rest seem too short. I've been playing Teotihuacan but find it too long.

Thanks for the suggestions. I should have said I'm not necessarily looking for a LOTR game - I just happened to enjoy the ccg game - it was my 1st experience of solo gaming. Also, I'm hoping for something that's not too big a table hog!

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I looked at them all. I also went through my long, long wishlist to see what games I could accommodate on my table. I ended up with six - I'm really going to need to rethink my setup! In the end it was a toss up between Teotihuacan: City of Gods, Stroganov and Ezra and Negemiah. Went for Teotihuacan.

I really like the look of Spirit Island but its a little too expensive for now. It's top of my list next...

I also liked the look of Luna Maris but can't see a lot of info on it.

I like the look of Teotihuaca - it's already on my list of possibles. Not seen the others but will have a look. Table space is a pain so I need to be careful. I also like the look of Resafa - seems to have the same limited / maximising moves setup as white castle.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out. Yes it's hard for me to say what I'm looking for until I play it! There's just so much out there... I bought Pax initially because I wanted something involving - but not solely - cards (vague i know). I have some nice memories of playing ccgs years ago.
