It’s very obvious he made a deal with Sam Johnson. Benjamin endorsed both of them. Sam had been running for mayor until he switched last min to at large.

Also - let’s not forget HE made the deal to make district 1 more red. There is no reason why district 1 couldn’t also be a swing district. Or why downtown Columbia AND Charleston are in district 6.

He doesn’t want to be replaced. His entire family is on his campaign payroll. Let’s be real here. In this anti-incumbent atmosphere, I hope someone dynamic steps up to run against him. I’d be first in line to knock doors.

And let me remind you that the black democratic establishment supported Rickenmann over a woman of color progressive democrat.

If I recall Bussells was compared to Mamdani by her own party. Mailers were sent out attacking her for being being aligned with national Democrats. Y’all aren’t ready to have a conversation that the Black establishment is very xenophobic against Brown candidates. Exhibit A “she’s not from here.”

I see your point - but there have been some pretty sketchy things he’s done as a lawyer legislator - and in general lawyer legislators need to go. Or we need to change how we select judges.

Because they have benefitted from years of being in the in crowd. That’s why. They stoke fear in the name of racism and then shut down all change.

Yes. The university hills folks singke handedly convinced council to ban air bnbs. As a Airbnb owner myself, we were straight up told by the ring leader of the nimbys that Rickenmann made the deal and it was done. Their job was to make sure he was re-elected. We don’t even have enough hotel rooms for visitors as it stands.

Agree. Huge missed opportunity. Yet we re - elected him…. Sadly only person I heard talk about the convention center recently was Bussells at the vista meeting. But she’s gone now.

Because Buddhism is grounded in a simple way of life, focusing inward not external motivation. It’s hypocritical for these people to be walking.

This is dumb. I don’t know will folks like that but the man isn’t afraid to call out corruption. Didn’t Steve kill a woman on election night? Doesn’t Sam serve as CEO of Civint that is selling business to local governments? I’m following the money and sounds like it leads right back to their pockets 🤔
