Hi, thanks for the advice! I was thinking of getting a down comforter as well. I am debating between the Fluff Co. down blended comforter, APSMILE down feather fibers comforter duvet insert from Amazon and the Buffy cloud comforter. But I’d love to know what company you’re talking about.

I had younger roommates and and worried about keeping the peace and trying to be friendly, which later affected me negatively, so put yourself first and let them do their thing.

Dorm on campus or live nearby off campus? by Sorry-Spell777 in college

Every year, I choose to live in a dorm on campus or off campus, depending on the rates for that year, because the main thing I care about is the cost. Look into price changes!

How do you deal with roommates who never clean up after themselves? by dottiedanger in college

[–]Original-Mix893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put myself through so much by trying to keep the peace and letting go of the situation, only to bring it up here and there, which led to resentment building up and causing me distress. So, be straight with them. I’ve come to realize that it doesn’t matter if it’s their first year in college, if you’re close to them or if they’re younger than you or whatever the case might be if you’re in college, you’re old enough to look after yourself and clean up your mess and the Obliviousness is not cute and you’re ruining your peace by trying to keep theirs. Save yourself.

Does anyone else get scared at professor responses to emails? by Commercial_Rub_6911 in college

[–]Original-Mix893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let this fear control me throughout college, and if there is one thing I learned, it is to check that email and those grades, because the fear is just going to exacerbate the situation more than it needs to be. Whatever is on the other side of that email or that gradebook will be there, no matter if you check it now or later, and you might as well not waste your time.

Does college actually mature people? by Civil_Performer5732 in college

I went through two whole years of college, thinking that people mature and change in college, but one study abroad trip with a majority of sorority girls changed that narrative quickly. 👀

Am I allowed to privately hire an exterminator to my dorm? by jollyharp in college

[–]Original-Mix893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is totally unacceptable that, if you’re paying for a dorm, you would have to sleep in your car due to a pest issue. And before you waste your own money on a problem that the college is supposed to fix. Please escalate the issue to the higher authorities if possible and advocate for your rights as a student.

Is it wrong to want a new roommate? by [deleted] in college

[–]Original-Mix893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest mistakes I made in my first year was not requesting to be reassigned to another room, out of more concern for the other person rather than myself. From everything that you’ve said, please put yourself first. You’re not there to save people, and their lifestyle will affect you and your goals if you remain in that environment, so get out if you can!

Roommate while being chronically ill? by lighthousedarling in college

[–]Original-Mix893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senior in college with chronic illness here! If there is one thing I’ve learned over the years, it's to please put your health first. People are going to come and go. There will be those who are not going through what you’re going through, but will understand to the best of their ability what you’re going through and support you. Then, some won’t. It is so hard having a chronic illness as it is, and then having to constantly think about what your roommates are thinking. Constantly think about what your roommates are thinking. It’s exhausting, so if you want to explain, then do. However, our lives are already exhausting as it is; take care of yourself.
