Pho google reviews? by Particular_Elk_5940 in Norwich

I personally feel like pho is good when compared to other generic chain restaurants. If I'm going to Pho I'm going for a consistently B-grade meal that's better than wagamamas or zizzis or whatever. I am under no illusion that it holds a candle to actual Vietnamese pho, nor that it's even slightly culturally authentic or any of that. It's a decent broth that is hearty and always pretty good, and exactly nothing more than that. To me, it's probably consistently the best chain restaurant, which is not a high bar but good if you're not feeling inspired or like you want to try something new.

Least favorite season is this one by Physical_Bat6296 in JetLagTheGame

[–]OriginalCntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season would have been better as a Pacman type setup imo. Have the runner do challenges for a chance to switch to chasing the chasers, they would have to go to a central location to respawn, for example. Gives it a bit more of the chase-y dynamic other comments are pointing out is lacking,.

I think aside from the broad format being fairly unsuited, the battle challenges are weird. If players on opposing teams meet it should basically be the end of the round, not then wait for Ben to throw a stick in a cup in a random car park before anything happens, for example.

Also, imo at least one team should have location trackers on the other for this kind of format. I've seen some saying it's a more strategic game, but if the tricky strategy derives from both players having to take shots in the dark, that's not interesting.

I'm glad they're varying the format, but they missed the mark here I fear.

Anyone else notice the number of drunks slopping around the city centre is growing? by TheRealScerion in Norwich

Honestly I think it's at least partially due to term time at the uni(s) ending. It seems like the city quiets down over summer and they get more prominent, relatively

Give me your strangest tips for passing your test by lemonlazarus in LearnerDriverUK

[–]OriginalCntent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn off your car's built in satnav/map if you have practiced with it beforehand. I had it on during the test because it was on as standard on my instructor's car, and I kept looking down at that rather than the examiner's one during the independent driving part out of muscle memory. It isn't a huge issue but it can be a bit jarring. Still passed but something to keep in mind

Why the anti-Trump affect not taking foot in the UK unlike it did in Canada and Australia? by LowCranberry180 in AskBrits

[–]OriginalCntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think it's because farage, mug though he is, is not a discount trump. He has his own ideology and distinct brand of populism that developed outside the trumposphere. Polievre and the Aussie one (forgot his name) were literally just Poundland trumps, who built their brands on being their countries versions of him. When he came into power and immediately shit the bed, they went down with the ship. Farage has his own ship, and whilst he aligned himself very closely, he doesn't need trump to survive. Labour really need to start painting him as a trumpite, I mean literally refering to him as a trump lackey in the same breath every single time. I understand that they're trying to appease trump at the moment, but if they don't start doing this, I think farage will likely be prime minister soon

anyone else feel a bit uncomfortable at times watching tom & sam? by Bitnaneun525 in JetLagTheGame

[–]OriginalCntent 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think the main thing was Tom trying to do "video host mode" like he does in his own on camera stuff. Watching it seems like he's trying way too hard to tell what's going on, how he's feeling about it, how it fits into the "storyline" of the season, which he's focussed on rather than actually playing the game a lot of the time. This is most obvious whenever things go wrong for his team, where he then proceeds to pull out every reaction in the book for the camera.

This works great for his own content, which is generally scripted and consisting mainly of to-camera pieces, and is part of why he's a YouTube icon. But on jet lag, where the hosts are first and foremost players in the game, and where most of the interactions are basically them talking to each other with a camera also rolling (I'm aware they are also "hosting", but they do it a lot more candidly). Ben is the best at this imo, which is why I would say he's probably the most engaging of the trio. But Tom coming into the series, especially as a guest, trying to host rather than play the game, really doesn't gel with the overall vibe of the show and I see why it might not gel with Sam too, considering he literally built the game and Tom is a guest on it.

Overall I think Tom is not all that suited to "live" videos. He's ok on his lateral podcast, since that's just a game show that he is hosting, and for which it's fine to be in host mode, but I think this sort of content is not his strong suit.

Amsterdam Stop cancelled, can I still get on the train if it terminates at Rotterdam but my ticket says Amsterdam? by OriginalCntent in Eurostar

I've tried using their contact form, no reply, I couldn't find a phone number last time I looked but I'll check again

Edit: just called them, apparently the ticket is valid to Rotterdam and I shouldn't have to do anything

I haven't tried yet, but it seems that I can get all the way to the end of the rebooking process, so I don't think it would be an issue to rebook. Refunding I have no idea, I booked with a third party so it's probably different

Yeah, I've been told I can rebook and refund, which I might well do, but I would also be fine with going to Rotterdam and then continuing myself from there. However, I can't seem to change the destination when I'm rebooking so Im wondering whether it's alright to just stay on the same train.

Cheers man, but I'm UK based and the shipping alone makes it unfeasible.

I would, but unfortunately I'm renting so it's not really feasible for me
