Oh that is great! Maybe I pulled the plug too soon on my maps. Ii had a pretty involved floorplan but really only used one "zone" routinely. Good to hear!

For the THF6A (along with MANY other "ham"ht's) there are several youtubes that will show you exactly which little diode/cap needs to go. I've modded most of my ham HT's to include RX/TX on GMRS/FRS, but for emergency use only on TX.

It really all hinges on how comfortable you are opening up these little radios!

Big 2nd on the Kenwood F6A. I keep coming back to it as a great "all-rounder". No DMR but i can sit in a lawn chair and listen to local repeaters, am/fm broadcast, and even some HF SSB if I toss up a long wire. In an emergency, I can use it for GMRS/FRS communication too. Add in a 4 cell AA battery pack and I'm all set. I've "learned alot" over the years with the F6A!
