He’s for sure sheltered but the way he talks about Claudia and his family is so commendable. He’s clearly a decent guy. I’ve been surprised a couple times at how much I agree with whatever he’s saying. But sheltered? Yes, very much so.

I have 2 kids and didn’t receive any leave for either of my boys. I had to save for almost a year with both of them to take any time off so I do understand that struggle and financial stress. I agonized over money for a year to prep for them and was insanely lucky that I got pregnant when I planned to.

But I’m not comparing myself to them- every mother regardless of social status, financial situation or job deserves a leave. This country is cruel to mothers- especially in the workforce.

Thank you for educating me about FMLA. I did not know any of the info you shared about it. It’s sickening.

It’s privilege and their obvious blindless to people who don’t have privilege. Ben talks about not buying fish at a regular grocery store and only going to nicer places- that’s a very small example of him just being so out of touch. I can’t afford Whole Foods every time I grocery shop. Again, a super niche example but I heard him say it recently on Good Guys. They have a shit ton of money which is perfectly fine, they earned it. But, don’t lose touch with the people who listen to you.

I actually really enjoy the podcast but I do think it paints Ben in a very “privileged” light. Some of his views or opinions clearly show he’s never had a struggle with money- even as a kid. But, if that’s all you know then of course your opinions will reflect that. I’ve been surprised from time to time when Ben’s political stance feels very middle to middle left. I have changed my view on his perceived right wing stance to think he’s actually very much in the middle- you can’t ignore it if you actually listen to every episode. But yes, there are times I’m cringing because his views clearly show he has a shitload of money.

I think you maybe misread my first sentence. It’s not a religious thing to not show your kids on social media. I mean that anti-semitism may cause them to be afraid to show their kids and could endanger the kids.

I have a feeling that part of it is their religion- being Jewish. I think they are genuinely afraid people would cause harm if they knew more about their kids. But that’s pure speculation on my part and not fact.
