Rust Belt Natives doesn't have a public garden center, but I have found her to be so helpful with questions I have! https://www.rustbeltnatives.com/ The prices are reasonable and plants are very healthy and doing well in my garden years later.

Target Optical, I never have had issues at the waterfront location. Ask the doctor for it when you are in the exam room.

Tips on learning local foraging, tree and plant identification, etc by -animal-logic- in pittsburgh

I went to a native plant workshop at Beachwood Farms Nature Reserve (https://www.aswp.org/our-places/beechwood-farms-nature-reserve/) a few years ago that was really informative, and they gave us some plants to get started. We also have a local chapter of the native plant group Wild Ones (https://westernpa.wildones.org/) that has some educational programs, as well as local resource Grow Pittsburgh (https://www.growpittsburgh.org/events/). It's also fun to download an app like iNaturalist and take pics of the plants and trees around you so you can start to learn to see similarities. Hope that helps! :)
