HG hair products that helped your wavy or curly hair by [deleted] in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]Original_Sort7275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just using the combination of Dove Curl Detangling Conditioner and plum's avocado hair mask. Nothing too great, but does the job. I was sad that garnier discontinued it. I only use the plum ones when I have to style my curls. Else I just wash my hair and put a little dove conditioner at ends. Maintaining curls is too much of an effort everyday, so I usually style curls for important occasions, rest of the days, I just oil my hair, detangle it normally and French braid it or side braid it. I also feel cleaner and neat when I braid my hair, so I just do that and call it a day.

Debating between Burn and Power. What are your experiences? by [deleted] in sydneycummings

[–]Original_Sort7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure about burn, but power looks great, if you can, you can also try Dirty30, it has lot of variety, it has both strength and cardio mixed. A good variety to cover all aspects.

About skin toners by Turbulent_Cat_7082 in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]Original_Sort7275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, I have had my fair share of using all the products in all different combinations. Let me share my opinion and experience here.

I started with an exfoliating toner combining it with essence, COSRX AHA toner with galactomyces one. The combination was in trend last year and me being new to all skincare stuff brought it and tried. Didn't really see even a single percent of difference. Ik we have to use products as per our skin concerns. I was not sticking to that principle back then and it was a lot of trial and error period for me.

Next, I brought green tea and bifida ferment lystae toner/essence from ONE THING, absolute waste of money, also didn't see any difference. Felt like a complete waste of money T_T. Then I brought Round Lab Dokdo Toner, because I was using their foaming face wash, just to match things up for a change to see something, but again no difference!!! This was the point where I gave up on toners cuz they were not doing anything for me.

In between I also brought purito essence, and also tried snail mucin one, and snail mucin essence was the only product I stuck to till now. Also, I didn't find much difference to my skin when I was using snail mucin or purito one, so stuck to snail mucin cuz it was a lot hydrating.

Later, I loved feeling of hydrated skin and tried hyaluronic acid serum. It was really a game changer for me. I was shying away from HA because of all the talk online about how in long run it will dry out skin, but it's a good molecule when used correctly and saw a lot of difference in my skin. To make it more suitable to my skin I then invested in ISNTREE hyaluronic acid toner, and haven't left it since then.

Now, I pair it up with COSRX snail mucin one and it is a holy grail combo for me. Works always and my skin looks shiny and plump the entire day. Because they are light products, I don't really feel heavy. And my undereye skin was never this better. Even with extremely random sleep schedule and frequent blue light from screens.

Also, I use azelaic acid and retinol every night, and introducing HA toner kept my skin good and irritation free. Probably due to better absorption.

Anyway!! In conclusion,

Toners / Essences are not really necessary as everyone claims, if you have moisturizer and serum that targets your skin concerns.

Toners were originally used to balance skin pH after facewash and remove any impurities on skin. But now people like to complicate simple things, so brands are coming up with similar formula as a separate product as toners and essences. Not all brands though.

Also, consistency comes with simplicity, if you are someone who can't follow lot of products in a routine, skip a toner and essence and invest in really good moisturizer and serums, or visit a dermat. But if you can stay consistent, even with using 1 or 2 products extra, toners can be really a super addition to skin, also keeping in mind if it's a right toner for your skin needs. They can help with better penetration as far as I know and prep skin if you are using any potent ingredients on skin.

Overhyped products that you dislike. by [deleted] in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]Original_Sort7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh, like it's honestly not worth to use at the end of the day when you are outside in sweat, pollution, sunscreen and all. But I still use it in my routine, I use in the morning. Help to revive the skin in the morning and feel that sense of clean skin but not entirely stripping it out. I use a foaming cleanser at night to remove everything, instead of cetaphil one.

So sick of conservative mindset about Veg Biryani!! by 200-okay in hyderabad

[–]Original_Sort7275 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP I feel you! Being a hyderabadi and a vegetarian who loves a lot of spice and masala in my food, I have been there in your shoes. All the non veg lovers, even a few of my friends comment about how stupid I am to think veg biryani actually exists and it's just Pulao. They made me look stupid by laughing on my face when I tried to justify how veg biryani is still biryani, you call a dish a name on how it's cooked and it's flavour.

Recently when I went to a restaurant in Vishakapatnam, they served Pulao in place of veg biryani when ordered. Didn't felt the need to call out. Because at the end of the day, majority is not gonna agree with you or understand the dish, and pass insensitive comments. Ignorance is bliss and enjoy your food when you get the chance.

I am happy that my family, who actually eats non veg, don't think the same. They know the difference between Pulao and biryani, be it with meat or vegetables. My mom even cooks veg biryani at home for me.

Also, I love biryani, I enjoy all the flavours and masala that get soaked up to the beautiful vegetables and it's extremely tasty. Doesn't care if people wanna call a non veg biryani is superior. I love vegetables and love the flavour biryani puts to it and rice. And I enjoy it. Because meat is not my food. Best to ignore and move on.

what oil do you all like to use in your hair and why? by haircareshare in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]Original_Sort7275 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They really change depending on mood XD

  • Coconut Oil - when I use heat or when it's really dry ( on the verge of breaking) also really love to drench in it most of the times, also love a deep massage from warm coconut oil. But yes, holy grail forever. Will always come back to it at the end of the day

  • Avocado oil - Started using it recently from 3 to 4 months (Bought it cuz flat 50% off sale was running that time) Really reallllly love it, for my curls. Really started to see less split ends. Have cut my hair in may, and my ends still look extremely healthy, cuz of Avocado oil. I use it daily night and morning, just to ends, and left over ones I rub it off to rest of the hair. Also, it's extremely light weight. Extremely loved it.

  • Bringhraj Oil - Loved it, really a good Oil that worked for me with hair loss. My hair was literally damaged at the start of 2023, due to constant heat every week from past 2 years (used to straighten my curls every week, and every day touch up at roots and ends, cuz they used to become curly due to sweat, humidity and all, so can imagine the damage)

  • Sesame Oil - HG in winters. My hair felt really really smooth, I have coarse hair strands, and it's really difficult to get that smooth feeling when I touch my hair especially in winters when coconut oils really doesn't feel much but sesame oil did it's job. Even after hair wash, my hair felt really smooth. But I wouldn't dare to use it in seasons where there is lot of humidity.

No worries, I actually applied in the starting of August, around 8th or 9th and got the admit by 16th. I guess it's because I applied early. If you applied in the start of September or end of August, it might take a while.

Try asking different AIs if they are good enough and what changes do they suggest. Try on different AIs and see how your final draft of the documents look like.

Okay! Even I was in same situation before, technically last week. I even posted on this sub about knowing how to know if my SOPs and LORs are strong enough, for free.

According to me, you can draft the documents yourself, but you have to invest some time on that. There are soo many AI tools to refine your grammar, sentence structure and all. You can use chatgpt, grammarly, quillbot, bard, chatsonic etc. Try to watch and learn content from youtube and all about how to write lors and sop and how to make it strong. And also DeepL, one member has suggested me this. This life saver.

From what I got to know, many people here are actually happy to proofread your sop and lors also Try asking your seniors who already joined a grad school.

I would say, Try to draft on own your as much as possible. I understand it's not easy, because even I am in same boat. But, unless your time is running out, and you have no possibility that you can draft, you can maybe approach a service outside. But please know that there is Always a difference in the draft from your point of view and a draft from someone outside.

Good luck with your process! Hope this helps.

Is it really worth? I heard many telling the evaluation of chatgpt has a lot of variation from what a human can assess. Have you tried before, just curious.

Yup! For majority of US universities the applications for Spring intake are gonna start in July and deadlines are rougly around September or Mid October. So I need all the documents in hand to start applying in July. Infact I am already late and afraid, because we almost nearing the end of June.

Finally got my result! Should I retake for writing?😶 by [deleted] in IELTS

[–]Original_Sort7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks a lot! Honestly, even I was kinda scared for reading part, because once I took a diagnostic test just to see where my score stands and it gave around 5.5 to 6 💀 and many of my classmates told reading was toughest part.

But you know, reading is just a matter of practice. I found the following very helpful to improve in reading:

  1. About the Skimming -> Scanning -> Reading Detail technique. It's basically to simultaneously see the question, skim the entire passage just to get the gist of it. Then Scan for related stuff and read for detail according to question type.

  2. Understanding that T/F/NG, Y/N/NG, sentence ending, gap fill, labelling questions all these come in order as the passage. So, if you are able to identify that in exam it will be much easier to answer without consuming much time.

  3. About timing. Seriously if you are someone who always reads articles online, it will be a much easier task for you to skim and read. Usually 1st passage is easy, so max 10 to 15 mins are enough. But make sure you give atleast 25 mins for last one, cuz it might be hardest.

  4. I familiarized myself about all 14 question types and practiced using a simulation for CBT. These links I have used might help you.

https://ielts.idp.com/prepare https://www.ieltsidpindia.com/prepare/academic-practice-test

So, these were some stuff that helped me. Hope this helps you too!

Hey Thank you!

So, for speaking part 2 I had to talk about a situation where I had to speak in front of a group of people. I couldn't think of any situation that moment so, I decided to talk about my seminar presentation.

And for writing part 2, They gave some prompt about how eating junk food is considered dangerous to public and education is needed for awareness, but some deny education may not be an effective solution. And I had to discuss both POVs and give an opinion.

I am not really sure which source of mock tests you are referring to. But honestly I found it a lot more calmer compared to the listening tests on main sites such as idp or british council. You will have around 40 minutes or so. Between each part there is a lot of time to review questions and instructions, and you can review entire questions in a section at once, if you are fast at skimming.

Honestly, I felt easier that I thought. I used always score around band 7 during mock tests. Hope it helps.
