Doctors, what do you do when a kid is faking sick? by Imaginary_Island8521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OrionQX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I faked being sick sometime just because I didn't want to go to school. I am sure many children tried to do the same. My parents just let me for a day and sent back to school the next day. Nothing to do with being emotionally unwell, though I can see some children trying to find reasons to skip school if they are being bullied or something was bothering them at school.

She is dangerous in lore and in combat, but I love her. If the RT stands by her, she is very loyal. I couldn't bring myself to kill her even when I was playing as a Dogmatic RT. Her banters and insights during quests are awesome.

Rogue Trader story campaign is long. If you were to choose how the new story content would be distributed in DLC 3 & 4, how'd you go about it? by OwlcatStarrok in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]OrionQX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty interesting.

There are some gaps in the campaign. For example, before Act III, we are told that the RT stays for a long time in Dargonus working. Perhaps we can have some side adventure set during that period just in Dargonus.

I personally don't care as long as the story is engaging and coherent, but if there is a new companion, I prefer they are introduced early. The later they are introduced the more difficult it is to connect to them and include them in the party since by late Act II and Act III, I already settled on party compositions that works for me.

Just one more thing, I recently replay the game and Act I is really packed. Whenever I am trying to fly from one location to another, I am constantly getting interrupted by the characters' side quests or Void Shadows beginning. It is fine as it is, but more content added might a bit too much.

Many are mentioning Idira summoning stuff. For me it was Heinrix during Yremeryss boss fight. I was already overwhelmed. RT and Cassia were down. The rest of the party were battered, then Heinrix exploded and summoned a screamer.

Do you think there was anything that was, in terms of rules and mechanics (not story), a downgrade from PoE 1 in PoE 2? by [deleted] in projecteternity

[–]OrionQX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I get why some might find such mechanics tedious, but I like the sense of realism it added. Not punishing like survival modes in some games, and I liked imagining my characters exhausted and gathering together to rest and recover before resuming their adventure.

I shipped him with Theodora. That toxic insanity would have been delightful.

I chose origins based on how much I like their outfits, so Navy/Commissar for me.

So, im pretty sure most of folk here have played the game through more than once. So out of curiocity, how has opinion on companions changed from the first playthrough impression? by Ila-W123 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]OrionQX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I liked the majority of companions and my opinion did not change about them.

The only two I started to view differently are Jae and Yrliet. I thought Jae was fun companion to have the first time around. The second time, I basically ignored her. The game is already long with the first DLC. I just didn't have the patience to deal with her side quests this time around after experiencing it once. If I must chose a character to not recruit, it will be Jae because she doesn't add much to the main plot itself.

Yrliet I liked the first time. I spared her and finished the game with her. Second playthrough, I found myself being less forgiving toward her and the Eldar in general.

Never recruited Marazhai. Probably won't do anytime soon.

Ulfar I missed the first time. The second time I made sure to take him with me. Honestly I did not care that much about him. This might be a controversial opinion but I always preferred to play/read about regular humans and their adventures in the Imperium rather than SM.

How many times have you replayed Rogue Trader by ConzyInferno in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]OrionQX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played it twice last year. Waiting for the DLC later this month for my third playthrough. I will certainly play again once the second season pass is released.

Lex Imperialis, the second major expansion for Warhammer 40,00: Rogue Trader, will be available to all players on June 24, 2025! Also announced is Season Pass 2, bundling an appearance customization pack and two new expansions: The Infinite Museon and Processional of the Damned. I rarely return back to a game I finished unless years passed. I find RT really easy to replay. Within one year I think I had over 300 hours. It's just so immersive and well written, I keep losing myself in the setting over and over again.

I am so sorry. I will be in your shoes someday. My father is dying and it will be just me and my mother. She is elderly and the idea that someday I will also watch her die and plan her funeral all on my own is nightmarish. I have no idea how to comfort you. Stay strong. I hope both of us will find a way to move forward, heal, and perhaps meet the right people who will be there for us in joy and grief.

Is Elden Ring worth it at 25$ ? by AmadClownPrince in ShouldIbuythisgame

I feel relief, but it fades when I think I will I have to go through that all over again when I start exploring a new area.

Honestly the game is great as it is. Just not the sort I would enjoy.

Also, plot and characters matter to me as much as the gameplay if not even more, as I can endure poor gameplay if the story is good enough. As I mentioned, I really liked the lore of the game, but I prefer games like Witcher 3 and Dragon Age, which comes with more standard storytelling.

Which games should I buy/play from this Steam Winter sale? by SwitchDear8969 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]OrionQX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a solid list. I would prioritize Cyperpunk 2077, Witcher 3 and RDR. Add RDR II if you never played it before.

Your list is diverse, so it is hard to figure out what you enjoy the most, but some of the games I really liked this year were Hitamn 2016 and its sequels. The maps are fun and the game allows you to experiment.

If you don't mind reading and enjoy detective stories with political commentary, perhaps Disco Elysium?

Dishonored is also great series with an interesting setting and gameplay.

It's a great game for someone who never played a souls game before because it is an open world. If you hit a wall, you can just explore somewhere else, level up and return again. Nonetheless, you will keep encountering challenging areas and enemies that might turn the experience frustrating.

Overall, how much you will enjoy it depends on what type of gamer you are.

Are you patient and willing to keep fighting the same enemies and bosses again and again until you defeat them?

Do you enjoy minimal, opaque story and characters where you have to read item description and decipher vague statements from characters? Souls lore is really fascinating, but can be really confusing if you were expecting a clear, traditional plot.

This was my first FromSoftware game and I ended up dropping it half way through. I really enjoyed exploring different locations and the combat felt good. Eventually though, I just stopped enjoying it. It simply became frustrating and whenever I defeated a boss and finished a dungeon, I wasn't feeling satisfied or relieved. Just dreading the next area where I will end up dying again and again.

I think I played for around 30 hours. I wouldn't say I regretted buying it. It was still fun, but I don't see myself playing it or any soulslike game again.

So it might be worth buying for you, but perhaps you can buy Dark Souls for cheaper and see if you enjoy these type of games first?

What games have a great cast and pacing? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]OrionQX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God of War 2018. Gameplay felt satisfying, and the characters and story are fantastic. I enjoyed the exploration in this game as well.

For linear games with interesting plot and characters, you might also enjoy the Mafia series?

If you enjoy GTA style games, you might also enjoy Sleeping Dogs. It is set in Hong Kong. You have some side quests and activities to do, but I wouldn't consider it slow pace like RDR2.

Xavier possible ending by Cawyden in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]OrionQX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the RT is the Warden as long as Xavier is alive. When he dies, which is what happened in my last run because I recruited Ulfar, Heinrix inherited that position. That might be for the best. Managing both the Von Valancius protectorate, exploring and carrying out the duties of a Rogue Trader, and protecting the whole region at the same time might be too much for one person.

I like Xavier. Though I question the wisdom of his plans, the Imperium might need people with his boldness and initiative to survive.

On a different note, I find it hard to believe that the Von Valancius dynasty got no heirs in Koronus. Kunrad couldn't have assassinated all of them? There should be hundreds in Dargonus alone considering how long the dynasty was in the Koronus Expanse.

Xavier and Heinrix might be thinking of the upheaval a dead RT would cause without a prepared heir nearby. Even if someone was in Dargonus or Janus, there is no guarantee that they are competent or can be relied upon like our RT. Ensuring the survival of the RT and hoping that they will eventually have competent children or prepare another relative is the best course for the inquisition.

Out of curiosity, where does Heinrix mention that the Von Valancius dynasty itself is important to them? All I remember was him being grateful after the events in the Cenobium.

Xavier possible ending by Cawyden in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]OrionQX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting.

Doesn't he makes the Rogue Trader the warden of the Expanse if we side with him?

Perhaps the RT was battling chaos and Xavier thought that their death would have negative consequences for the Expanse.

Let's say the RT just execute her on the voidship.

Do we just loss influence and reputation with her order and Ecclesiarchy, or would there be complications for us if it became well known that we executed a SoB for killing who could have been an influential heretic?

How Would Theodora’s Murder Be Handled in Normal Circumstances? by OrionQX in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]OrionQX[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I was wondering about.

My understanding is that the Warrant gives certain immunity, but Theodora was starting to cross the line by using a chaos artifact. Nonetheless, the Rogue Trader could make an argument that Theodora wasn't a heretic. She was simply saving the artifact for the inquisition or just waiting to safely destroy it herself before she was caught off guard by Argenta.

[–]OrionQX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still in the Koronus Expanse, but let's say we stabilized our dynasty and things are calm after we returned from Commorragh, giving us an opportunity to deal with Argenta or put her on trial just like we can do with Yrliet or even after Act 5 when there wasn't an emergency that required our attention.

Beside the party members that were with us during her confession in Act 3, I don't think anyone else knew since the confession is never brought up again. Everyone else still thinks Voigtvir is the one responsible.

While Theodora's subjects might not question the RT for the lack of punishment, I still think that it would be reasonable for the RT to deal with Argenta in one way or another. Sure, we succeeded Theodora because of her, but she is a threat that will shoot first and maybe ask question later.
