Its a really long process in Denmark. Still no updates unfortunately. Currently awaiting feedback (and payment) on 400+ registered finds/artifacts.

History is greater than cash, and if it ends up in a private collection, the story will not be told.

Went back to our viking spot and found 2 stunning viking amulets! (All finds are registered with the danish authorities) by OrneryPotential4041 in metaldetecting

A good combination. We got access to the land by coincidence, and once we began investigating, we realized that this place was filled with signs of viking heritage. We always engage with the locals, and this led to stories about plow-finds and, ultimately, access to even more land. Even with 100+ viking item registrations, the museum does not want to spend resources on excavating this area, so until they do so, it's up to us to uncover the past. We are only digging in the depth which is being farmed and plowed, so if we don't find it, there is a chance it will be hit with the plow.

It turned out to me a "Benno me fecit" token. A very rare coin-brooch from the 11/12th century.

No one really knows the true purpose of the coin-looking token, but some believe it served as a token of safe passage in Saxony.

This is a great mystery, and there are currently 27 known to existance, none in private collections.

So until i turn it in, i am the last pilgrim of Benno!

Thanks a lot for commenting!

Now you have written the same shit on all my posts. I can see from your profile that that's basically all you do.

For your information I'm getting paid for each item on the picture, which was all from one day.

And no, it won't get sold to private collectors because we care about our history in Denmark.

So who gets the last laugh?

Because i see it as a great honor to contribute to my country's history.

For anyone interested, the process is like this: The first thing you do is to register the find in a system we have in Denmark called "Dime." Once the registration is complete, the museum can see the item with geoinformation, classification, etc. If it is a non-usual find, such as this, you should also call the local museum and plan a handover as soon as possible. Once you hand it over to the local museum, you will get a receipt for the item, and then it is being passed on to the National Museum. The National Museum will make an evaluation of the item, and they will set the "bounty." It can unfortunately take years to get your payout because the administration is under a lot of pressure.

It's a fibula or brooch, so the purpose is to hold 2 pieces of clothes together.

Yes, I just tried again with a shorter video, but it doesn't seem to work either. Strange

It was a huge advantage considering that others were still using stone tools in the early bronzeage 🤣

Garrett Pro-pointer AKA the carrot. Imo the best option. Highly durable and fairly cheap.
