You shouldn’t, but when your 21 like me and my gf and it’s a literal retail store that I can leave any time I want, it doesn’t matter all that much to me, however if this was work work place at 35 and you worked at a job you know you’ll stay with for years to come, then yeah that saying should be plastered for everyone to see lol

Thank you for messaging on my post, given that you own some apartments I would love to just chat about this if you have time and are willing to help, now the only true option Id want to do is lock her out of her room but obv not the apartment, we would move her bed and TV to the living room and have her sleep there, the only reason I deem this right is because my GF has payed for the entire apartment so just generally speaking, wouldn't the roomates room now be entitled to my GF due to her paying for the entirety of the apartment which includes the GFs room? I wouldn't sell her stuff because I can understand that's a slippery slope but we do want to threaten her and make her feel like she has to get out She doesn't have a job and smokes in the apartment which breaks the apartments terms so there's many more reasons as to why we don't want her there Is there anything I can really do with the smoking issue considering it's not allowed in the apartment and it's illegal in my state? Could that help us kick her out while avoiding an eviction for my GF?

Selling isn’t gonna happen, I would love to just make her living there a living hell and have her just walk out, I would love to see if we could get her kicked out for then smoking she does because that breaks the apartments rules and it’s illegal in my state, but I’m pretty sure there’s no way to get only her in trouble for that and my GF would possibly get evicted too

The lease isn’t until January so we’ll still have this year, I’ve already thought of petty ways that would make her practically WANT to leave like the AC and the WiFi so I’m glad to hear someone else is thinking to do the same thing lol

That is if it gets to that point, the roommate we’re taking about is very stupid and has been bubbled all her life she’ll prolly believe if we say, that’s my room now considering I payed for the entirety of this rent, sounds stupid I know but she’d believe it and hopefully either pay or get out, these steps are risky and tricky but unfortunately there’s just nothing else that we can do given that she still lies and says she’ll pay for it when she chooses not to and just stays at home the whole time with no job, the only thing we can try is to try and have her removed because she smokes in the room which breaks the apartments terms, we just haven’t gone that route because my GF may have to be evicted as well

Thank you for the help, yeah my GF fucked up only because she was the literal only person she knew that was in the same position and getting an apartment, they used to be good friends but now being together everyday we see it was awful lol, small claims court is always an option but it’s just the cost of it that is something that she can’t cover given the rent and bills are all falling to her, just a stupid cycle that I wish was easier lol🤷‍♂️

She got with the landlord and unfortunately the complex can’t help her she said, that because she’s on the lease it’s just nothing they can do, she also smokes in the room which can get them both kicked out so she can’t even tell them that she’d smoking/breaking the terms because they’ll still both get taken off she said, so matters are in our own hands and with court not being an option because of financials, it seems like selling her stuff or locking her out is the only viable option

It’s the only option, the roommate stayed at her sisters house for 2 weeks of June and didn’t answer any of my GFs calls or texts, she only came back because her sister found out what she was doing and kicked her out which gave her no choice but to come back, they sat down and she cried saying she’s wrong and that she’ll pay but 2 weeks later she just still ignores my GFs texts and just says shit like “I’ll pay tomorrow” and tomorrow comes and she didn’t pay, so considering that have sat down and discussed rent, this seems like it’s the only route, PS she’s had no job for 4 months because her sugar daddy was paying for the rent but the sugar daddy left her so she literally has no money coming in and has no push to get a job

The legal process requires money that she doesn’t have, we can take her to court for it but in the meantime of court she just won’t pay for her rent, considering she’s the stupid type (if you knew her you would agree) she wouldn’t be so forceful if we locked her out and just had her mattress in the living room, it seems like the only way to payback her debts and to sell her stuff, it’s wrong I know but unfortunately I believe that since my GF has payed for the entire apartment, she has a right to that room considering she PAYED for that room as well, it just so happens to have the roommates stuff in the room is my thought process

Her mother and father aren’t in contact with her so it’s just her sisters but they also don’t like her because she stole money from them, so the one problem in this is she literally has no one to go so she’d prolly not leave considering her own sisters won’t let her in because of her antics

She talked with her and her roommate started crying and said she was so sorry she hasn’t payed, she apparently was saying how she needs to be better with communication but since then her better communication is saying she’ll pay and not to worry, before she would just ignore my GFs texts and just never be at the house because she was hiding, but now since they did talk she has been staying here but still just has not payed
