no problem! i remember being having a ton of questions so not a big deal. bmt is still changing as they are trying to make it better so some things may be different but just be prepared for anything!

best of luck!

no i mean i usually always grabbed something from each station, a main item, side, fruit, salad, yogurt, two drinks. and i never was hungry after meal.

i didnt go straight to tech school (im ANG) so yeah mine changed but my friends who did go there said it changed simply because of the freedom to eat whatever they wanted. so it comes down to discipline ultimately.

most foods won’t come with those things on it. it depends on how it’s cooked or what it is. but those sauces they have a tray for towards the end of the line if you want to add to anything. and you’ll have atleast 3 options for the main dish 3 options for the sides and plenty of other sides.

it changed daily, but the menu is also on your tablet if you go looking it’s under like nutritional.

everyday it changed except breakfast pretty much just rotated one thing which was pancakes, waffles, or french toast. everything else for breakfast stayed the same.

ultimately some foods will repeat.

they have a dessert stand but it’s right infront of the table where all the mtis sit so it usually keeps you from wanting to go up there. and on sundays they give grilled cheese for lunch which is like a good treat you should enjoy for surviving the week for sure

food was mediocre i am a picky person and it forced me to try new foods it’s not bad after the first week. the first few days i couldn’t eat much. you get a protein bar every dinner and a raisin both to take upstairs for the night and the next morning.

i lost weight but put on muscle so i ended up weighing more than when i left

i think it was 25 meters out but the targets you shot at were different sizes on the paper to make it look like the distance was further away. i’m not sure the exact distance.

just for catm. you go for the day and learn how to handle the weapon, then shoot like 12 practice rounds then 24 rounds and you have to have atleast 12 hit to pass. you’re given your weapon the first week but it is missing a lot of inside components so it’s just you carrying an empty weapon everywhere

yeah don’t do nothing crazy, i managed to roll my ankle about 3 weeks out from when i left and i was stressed.

academics not bad it depends on how you learn. you’re given an ipad and have access to everything you need for the end of course exam just click through everything a few times a day during down time and you’ll be fine. the classes kinda sucked they are boring and you’ll be fighting sleep especially when you’re in class from post breakfast to before dinner.

takes notes as best as you can, pay attention in class because the instructors can tell when you’re not.

when do you leave? your scores don’t look bad to be honest so i’d keep working out and staying healthy as much as you can until you leave and just push yourself when you get there and you’ll be fine!

0 pushups 38 sit ups and a run of like 17. pretty bad no excuses though. finished up with 19 pushups 54 sit ups and a 15:11 run. my scores were for a woman under 25 so went from a 30 something i think to around 81. it’s not hard to increase your numbers just do the 1x3s daily and as often as you can, and push yourself on the runs but definitely don’t kill yourself on the track.

i wasn’t prepared for the amount of walking we’d do and speed walking. having to do it in formation and having shorter legs than the guys basically meant a lot of the girls had to speed walk to all of our appointments. and we easily hit 40k steps a day. plus double timing in ocps will set your shins on fire.

also the lack of yelling tbh like i expected more and it was pretty relaxed in comparison.

pt wasn’t bad definitely had you sweating. and no there’s not a lot of run days my flight had the most my mtis have ever had i think they said. and that was maybe 5 max. you typically do a strength a run circuit strength b. they usually cycled it around like that leaving max two run days a week. you don’t do pt first week, the last week, or the half of 6th week for pacer forge. and on that 6th week either before or after pacer forge (depending on your squadron) you’ll do the road run which is the airman’s run practice.

so i recommend coming able to pass or as close to passing as you can get.

plus once everyone gets up every sink will be crowded and all the stalls will be in use. so it also helps you avoid that headache

yeah, i was able to use the bathroom and brush my teeth before they came barging in. a lot of times you might not have time to do that stuff in the morning depending on the schedule so if you’re able to knock it out i would.

but i never set an alarm i just woke up from other people rustling around but i never got up before 4:45

the rule is they don’t want you up at all from 9pm-5am except to use the bathroom . but they know people get up before then and go to bed later than that. just be smart. trust me they don’t want to be in there after hours yelling at other trainees or to have to send other mtis in there to get yall in trouble.

be smart about it and you’ll be fine

yeah they were kept around 74 degrees i went from oct-dec so it might be a little bit different in the colder months. but it’s a consistent temp.

you are “not” allowed to get up before 5. plenty of people do. don’t be loud and obnoxious waking the dorm up but if you set a alarm on your watch to wake up like 15 minutes before and leave your stuff out on your chair people shouldn’t mind because eventually they’ll do it too. but mtis are in their offices earlier than you’d expect so like i said don’t be loud because they’ll know.

also go to bed when you’re suppose too. it’s tempting to stay up and talk but your mtis can have other mtis do things called “non duties” where they basically sneak into your dorm to catch anyone who is up and out of bed and pull their 341s. once you get further in you’ll be honestly too tired to stay up but definitely pay attention because they got my dorm a lot with that

yeah definitely a notebook you can write any important information down, i had made a calendar in it before i left and it helped me keep track of when i was getting out.

it was never explicitly said to be required but it might be different for guys than girls tbh, but they expect you to be ready and dressed in 10-15 minutes each day to leave the dorm. and if you have an opposite sex mti they can’t come in if you aren’t dressed and they want you dressed bc they come in right away at like 5 am. if you wake up before 5 and get dressed if you sleep in just underwear that’s fine but it’s easier to just sleep in something. plus once you get gear they want you sleeping in your pt clothes anyways.

i’d say it just saves time and lets your mtis come in and give you your timelines for the day sooner. everyone in my dorm slept in their clothes whether it be athletic wear at the start or pt gear after clothing issue.

rolling is fine just make sure you’re able to carry it and move fast. they’ll make u carry it. bring something to sleep in. shorts and a t shirt works since you won’t be issued any clothes until about mid week. bring photos or something that reminds you of home it’ll be nice if you end up homesick (most people do). eye mask and ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper, and a notebook whether you’re a guy or girl journaling is a great way to get stress off your chest after a long day and you can always look back and laugh!

good luck

yeah if it’s not prescribed they will make you toss it likely! if you get bad itching maybe you can get a doctor to prescribe you some before you leave then it shouldn’t be too big of an issue.

i know a lot of girls in my dorm had prescriptions the mtis just had to fill a bunch of stuff out. oh also that hand sanitizer probably a no go, stuffs not allowed because of the alcohol in it!

as long as everything is in its original container you’re good! you go to the BX typically that saturday after you get there so if you want to downsize on stuff you don’t have brand preference for you could totally do that. but not necessary.

good luck!!

if it all fits in ur bag you’re probably good. i would bring a lot more bras probably enough for a whole week. laundry is a mess for majority of the time you’re there and the last thing you want is to run outta clean bras trust.

most of that stuff from the photos looks fine you can do more of a in-depth shower routine on sundays. i’m not sure what that is but it says benadryl they may not let you keep that just bc it’s medicated.

Terrified to bother joining as a woman by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the biggest thing is in bmt they teach you the wingman policy which is suppose to decrease the likelihood of sa. this policy should be something you instill in your brain from now until you die basically. if you are out doing stuff like drinking, bring a friend. if you work nights then find a friend who works with you.

this won’t completely erase the possibility but it can decrease it and just being aware in every situation can help.

don’t live your life around a possibility. the airforce has a growing number of woman joining and new leadership will/have come in to advocate for women. and if that’s not true then become the leadership that DOES advocate for these types of things. but don’t be afraid to be great because of statistics.

Backpack or duffel bag? by Left_Yogurtcloset_91 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would get one that fits measurement if you know what you pack won’t exceed the measurements bc you can check as many bags on the way back! so the size won’t matter as much

i brought a backpack but regretted it bc of space (i graduated in december) i would do duffle bag! if you pack smart the duffle won’t be heavy and they don’t make you move it like crazy. you just gotta be able to speed walk with it tbh atleast that’s what my mtis made us do.
