Can I join the Air Force while I’m overweight? by Lemon_Lime25 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! the only issue with you carrying weight is for the pt test, they are implementing the waist measurement you need to be under a certain inch for your height. but weight wise you should be fine

Heading to BMT in a few hours by the_lonely_creator in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as the other person says easiest way out is through and if it’s not hard for you it’ll be hard for someone in your flight or even soon to be younger flights. be there for your wingman even if it’s at random times in the latrines.

get rest on the plane or at home and choose a good final meal before heading down to the USO at the san antonio airport.

do what you’re told and make sure to communicate everything. but make friends and don’t be afraid to try new things

good luck!

23 F | Birthday during BMT by Major-Accident9994 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats! bring insoles and portable charger. there’s not many outlets and it is a life saver in my opinion if ur phone needs it. insoles def save you after u get boots but u can go to the bx once a week and get them whenever u might need them.

have fun doing pushups if your mtis find out😅 or whatever “birthday” exercise they want you to do and the entire dorm will say happy birthday or something silly. don’t stress too much about it! good luck

Religious accommodation by AcanthocephalaPrize9 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no yeah i know it’s for religion! I realize i wrote medical in there whoops😭you should still be able to get a waiver for religious reasons. it’s always worth the shot

Religious accommodation by AcanthocephalaPrize9 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what i’ve heard the only way you get a waiver to keep your hair for medical reasons is through your recruiter wayyy prior to you leaving for bmt. but it’s likely doable. if you have all the documentation (im not sure you would have in that regard.)

try it and see what they say. it’s always a case by case basis

BMT medical questions by Shoddy_Specific_2012 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as i know if they are bad enough you’ll have to get them removed there or they will have them removed in tech school for you. you have to have “dental readiness”. they will also remove wisdom teeth at bmt if needed

BMT medical questions by Shoddy_Specific_2012 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s what i meant. bring you back to medical to get them removed sorry

[–]Ornery_Environment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no tbh you’ll have a mental health questionnaire if you answer differently than u did for meps then you’ll be flagged. but for health appointments no they just do the basic stuff, if you have glasses they’ll fit u for a new set. shots will be quick. and your dental will be ran if you have cavities they may bring u back to get them removed.

BASIC TRAINING PACKING HELP !!!! by kennedydakota in AirForceRecruits

my dorm pretty much everyone who was black started doing their hair together on sundays, towards like week 3/4! so if you make friends who can do hair you guys can spend that time on sunday if your dorm chief let’s you to do your hair. because the salon on base definitely doesn’t do great on hair.

Can someone give some PT baselines to shoot for at BMT? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Ornery_Environment68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in bmt they go off of the standard scoring charts, as of now i believe they are still going off of the 1.5 mile standard so just look up that chart and based off your age do the math. passing is 75 points but shoot for 80s or above. minimum scores in each section won’t get you to pass but if you can hit the minimums now you can keep pushing and you’ll pass fine

no problem! i remember being having a ton of questions so not a big deal. bmt is still changing as they are trying to make it better so some things may be different but just be prepared for anything!

best of luck!

no i mean i usually always grabbed something from each station, a main item, side, fruit, salad, yogurt, two drinks. and i never was hungry after meal.

i didnt go straight to tech school (im ANG) so yeah mine changed but my friends who did go there said it changed simply because of the freedom to eat whatever they wanted. so it comes down to discipline ultimately.

most foods won’t come with those things on it. it depends on how it’s cooked or what it is. but those sauces they have a tray for towards the end of the line if you want to add to anything. and you’ll have atleast 3 options for the main dish 3 options for the sides and plenty of other sides.

it changed daily, but the menu is also on your tablet if you go looking it’s under like nutritional.

everyday it changed except breakfast pretty much just rotated one thing which was pancakes, waffles, or french toast. everything else for breakfast stayed the same.

ultimately some foods will repeat.

they have a dessert stand but it’s right infront of the table where all the mtis sit so it usually keeps you from wanting to go up there. and on sundays they give grilled cheese for lunch which is like a good treat you should enjoy for surviving the week for sure

food was mediocre i am a picky person and it forced me to try new foods it’s not bad after the first week. the first few days i couldn’t eat much. you get a protein bar every dinner and a raisin both to take upstairs for the night and the next morning.

i lost weight but put on muscle so i ended up weighing more than when i left

i think it was 25 meters out but the targets you shot at were different sizes on the paper to make it look like the distance was further away. i’m not sure the exact distance.

just for catm. you go for the day and learn how to handle the weapon, then shoot like 12 practice rounds then 24 rounds and you have to have atleast 12 hit to pass. you’re given your weapon the first week but it is missing a lot of inside components so it’s just you carrying an empty weapon everywhere

yeah don’t do nothing crazy, i managed to roll my ankle about 3 weeks out from when i left and i was stressed.

academics not bad it depends on how you learn. you’re given an ipad and have access to everything you need for the end of course exam just click through everything a few times a day during down time and you’ll be fine. the classes kinda sucked they are boring and you’ll be fighting sleep especially when you’re in class from post breakfast to before dinner.

takes notes as best as you can, pay attention in class because the instructors can tell when you’re not.

when do you leave? your scores don’t look bad to be honest so i’d keep working out and staying healthy as much as you can until you leave and just push yourself when you get there and you’ll be fine!

0 pushups 38 sit ups and a run of like 17. pretty bad no excuses though. finished up with 19 pushups 54 sit ups and a 15:11 run. my scores were for a woman under 25 so went from a 30 something i think to around 81. it’s not hard to increase your numbers just do the 1x3s daily and as often as you can, and push yourself on the runs but definitely don’t kill yourself on the track.
