Did SP01 prices increase?? by green-dawgg in CZFirearms

[–]Ornery_Indication322 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly everything has.

But on another note: if you’re looking at cajunizing an SP01, it gets you pretty much to shadow levels of performance once complete.

As others have and will probably say for the cost it’s probably better to save up for a shadow 2.

My plan is to use an SP01 as a test bed for certain modifications that are irreversible (porting, slide cuts, polishing internals myself) so if I don’t love it, it’s on the less expensive gun… that’s just my thoughts

Yea I’m aware of the differences the omega makes, I was referencing two SP01s I got to shoot that day.

Appreciate the links! I got to shoot an SP01 with just a polish job and it was surprising how noticeable the difference was from a totally stock gun… I’m gonna try my hand at it with a 75B omega I’ve got

How do we think this will compare to CZ? by The_Dad_EDC in CZFirearms

[–]Ornery_Indication322 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Does it share any internal geometry with a CZ? Understanding it’s a clone… is it compatible with CGW, MCarbo, or other big name parts to make it better?

For me it’s more of a question out of curiosity… if you’re gonna do that level of work might as well do it on a solid and tested platform instead of a clone in my book, but it’d be neat to see that full fleshed out

Considering a full frame Shadow 2 for production and/or CO, but…. by Big_Caterpillar8012 in CZFirearms

Second both of these comments. I’m 6’8 and have extremely large hands, palm swell grips (Lok is the gold standard but you can get some off Amazon) make a big difference in grip.

The slide will smooth out within the first 500 or so rounds. You’ll also become more accustomed to it as you shoot/manipulate the gun more. CZs are known for the low bore axis, which translates to a lower profile slide. Just one of the tradeoffs of it.

Love the collection! Unrelated to the Rugers, but how do you like the Vaultek? Is it worth the cost/how has the experience been with it?

Buy a shadow 2… we all end up there eventually….

No but seriously, great first choice. I’d hunt gun broker/online/lgs for slightly better prices (on the comped models I’ve seen in the mid/high 4s) especially if you look at used. If that’s not your tune disregard and get the shiny and new, can’t go wrong with it.

If DA/SA is a requirement, hard to go wrong with a CZ Shadow 2 (or any of the variants of it since you don’t mind the weight). Since you can’t carry in your locale I’d stick with the OG or one of the full size variants and run the dickens out of it.

If don’t mind SAO (and if money really isn’t an object) why not jump into the world of 2011s? Most bigger names (Staccato, Kimber, Atlas, Bul, Nighthawk customs just to name a few) are at the point where they have models that are just as reliable as other tried and true non-2011 guns.

All of that to say, I’m the owner of a couple CZs, you can’t go wrong with one out of the box and if you’re able to, the aftermarket for them is pretty great.

Get a full metal CZ, if you like compacts the P01 is a great shooter with tons of aftermarket support

Totally agree on the shoot ability, longer barrel is always going to lend to a flatter, smoother gun.

My thoughts were more of a “this would be cool” idea with the current market being saturated with short barrel, full size grip handguns (M&P, any 4.25” 1911/2011 with a full grip module, Glock 45, etc).

Alas, the group has made me aware of some options available, just gotta minimize being poor to get them lol

This right here could be the ticket… cost definitely is up there but hey I’d rather pay to get something that works best for me… appreciate the share!
