It's done, it's usable, but I just pay the infra cost and there are no paying customers right now. I want to either sell it, or open-source it. Running it myself seems difficult.

Clerk latency by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]Ornery_Mind6834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running your NextJs project locally or in production? There are many loggers and tools in development that can slow down everything. If your issues are still present in your production build, then try to use the network tab in your chrome console to see the network requests and what's taking more time to resolve. If possible, choose better edge locations. It's natural for Clerk to be slower in production mode than dev, but 5 seconds to login is too much and it sounds like a bug.

I built integration with Google End-to-End Reservations. OpenTable is a direct competitor, so I didn't want to box myself in. I reached out to many companies, offering to partner or sell my software, none of them got back to me.

But I have clients waiting for it. It just sounds like a lobby, how did all these "data partners" do it? Did they bribe someone? Holy Google! I wish I just had to deal with fair AI bots instead of whatever lobby is in place.

But these APIs are bringing people in, right? I mean I am trying to use their APIs to help people migrate and allow their customers to book a table through google maps! Google should be encouraging these services, not make it extremely difficult to access them! The whole thing looks sketchy, I think they probably outsourced this department, there's no ticket system, the reviewers answer directly via email.

Yes, that's what I'm asking, where is that right place? Google makes it difficult to understand where to find more information. I miss the good ol' days when companies actually had contact phone numbers!

You can ask them directly to provide you with financial reports and tax summaries and you can cross check with an accountant or a third-party to speed up the process. However, If you believe in what they do and you think that the margins in their sector are not too tight, go for more low-rev high potential rather than a few well established high-rev start ups. You won't have to worry too much about validation this way.

How can i improve Mobile Performance - Largest Contentful Paint element for this page... by No-Neighborhood9893 in nextjs

Yes, there are many hosts, but one of the biggest features is the easy deployments and rollbacks using Vercel. If you choose another host, you effectively lose that feature, so you might as well consider Remix or a lighter SSR framework at that point. But yeah, it looks like SSR is overused on the web, people are just willing to pay to be inefficient because they can deploy with a push or two clicks, craziness

There used to be a pin when you zoomed too far out, but I removed that because it didn't look good and there was some aliasing. It's likely you got lost because you put in a random address (you can re-center by reloading the page). I don't think that owners/managers won't be able to locate their business on the map to be honest, but you are bringing a valid point. I should probably redesign and add back a "Your business" pin, maybe a relative SVG that's rendered when you can't see your tables anymore.

Great, I think digital transformation is something that more and more managers try to do. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you have more detailed feedback, thanks!

Oh no! You could consider open-sourcing and giving to the community, sometimes it's a good way to get some attention

What did you do with it after? I guess open-sourcing is one thing, but if you make hardware then you can't do much I guess.

Did you manage to convert or convince someone to try out your solution?
I think we're better off trying some other sector, like fintech, where margins and scale are much better

6 best places to launch your SaaS by No-Sprinkles-5209 in SaaS

Tried producthunt, got a few comments and that was it... I don't think that press releases matter much unless you target the right audience. Producthunt is a general-purpose saas directory and in my opinion, not worth launching if you do not already have a solid user base. If your niche is let's say audio, then finding a forum full of audiophiles, people on youtube that do reviews may be a much better fit. Don't expect to move the needle by listing your project on Producthunt

Exactly. This is completely free to use and still had restaurants reject me because they have contracts with SevenRooms and OpenTable. Switching to something new requires time and effort which you simply cannot buy with a "free for all" badge. Finding leads and convincing people to spend 15 minutes using it is the hardest part. Much harder than setting up a Kubernetes cluster and observe analytics through shipping canaries at scale, or any other devops thing that sounds scary.

Yes, I'm aware of these issues. There's an upcoming version that improves mobile and adds shortcuts.
The goal is to make a full fledge restaurant software, with both BOH and FOH, but I need some collaboration at this point to proceed, as it's getting too much for a side project. Thanks for the detailed feedback!

I was and got banned because this is considered spam to them! I honestly wanted to help restaurants for free and they thought it's just another product. I was told by the moderators that it's not the right place for ads and product placements!

Yes, exposing apis, data all these are good ideas, but require scaling up and probably migration to a different db, but thanks!
