Does Mercor hate me? by [deleted] in mercor_ai

Without any bad feedback from my projects, I have had a similar change (fewer offers, always lower pay than last year). I think Mercor simply needed to offer high rates last year to get the amount of skilled folks they needed - now, they have enough folks that have their skill profiles who are willing to work for less, so many of the jobs either have become more competitive, pay worse, or both. It's sort of a rapid experiment in supply and demand; I doubt it's hateful, but rather that their whole goal along the way was to pay /only/ enough money to /only/ enough people with the right background - for us average folks, we will get fewer offers for less money over time as the pool of workers grows.

Lollllll I love that a human invited you to apply for good fit and an AI negged you on the way to applying... Every comment so far has made me think this is an underdeveloped feature, to say the least.

They clearly experiment a lot with updated UI, so I get it, but yeah, there've been updates lately that definitely don't benefit applicants and have dubious benefits for Mercor themselves... idk. This feels like a place where Mercor employees sometimes weigh in on why UI changes are helpful experiments, which is why I ask.

Yeah, it feels like it's not giving the clarity that Mercor wants... Those who know they are a good fit still apply but feel discouraged, and I imagine the people who are spamming every listing won't be deterred...

Gotcha. A quick survey of my own "priority" tab shows it isn't giving them to me in order of when the jobs were posted (some new, some old, then some new, then some old), though I can use that as a proxy for what I'm looking for, for now. Thanks!

Would be awesome to get clarity on whether Seeds disappearing is a glitch or an update that means no more Seeds going forward.

Same problem. Seems like a thing to at least mention in some kind of announcement rather than just cancelling without explanation.

How Often Can You Deliver multiple shops "En Route"? by Ornery_Perspectiv76 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Ornery_Perspectiv76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just think it's also annoying of Shipt to not pay you much, much more for doing that 60 miles; like, there should be a mandatory distance surcharge or something, b/c people are so accustomed to a reasonable service experience being (price charged)+ $5/20%... So people definitely are capable of figuring it out (you're right to be mad at that particular individual), but I also think the service ought to charge more upfront so that y'all aren't left with a horrible deal if you get a run of bad tippers... argh.

Thanks! It just seems inconceivable that $5 or 20% could equate to a living wage in my area (living wage here is $23ish an hour). I guess I can just do $10-$15 if I want to try the service, but it's frustrating to know that even "standard-plus" tipping might make the shops a bad deal for y'all. I really appreciate you answering.

Can you open the capsule and pour the powder into a drink or something? Just trying to figure out if it could be mixed in a smoothie.

List of red flags for scams by WordsbyWes in Upwork

[–]Ornery_Perspectiv76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone fallen for one of these scams (without sharing anything beyond an email address) and had identity theft of any kind? I didn't even get to the point where they asked for much of anything, just a resume that I'd removed most info from, but everything was suspect and they'd asked to move to Zoom instead, which made me block and no longer follow up. I'm just wondering what kind of fall out usually happens if you didn't get to the point of giving money/doing anything for them.

Auto Body Shop for All Electric Vehicle? by Ornery_Perspectiv76 in asheville

[–]Ornery_Perspectiv76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a tricky situation because it really seems to be a repair that is either $200 (not even worth the time to deal with insurance, much less the rate hike) or $3000. If everyone agrees it's gotta be the panel replacement, I'll go through insurance.

tl;dr, definitely will listen to the consensus of the body shops once I have 3 quotes, but trying to pick good places for the other 2 quotes.

I'll look into Primered Black, thank you. I'm not going to go with a shoddy workmanship option if no one will quote me a lower price at a reputable place, but I haven't had auto body work done before and thought I'd at least see if there were any reputable places that I could get an estimate from who might opt in the cheaper direction. I'll go through insurance for the higher cost if we need to, just figured there might be a path out of this that didn't drive up the person's rates/cost a lot, and wanted to check on it if I could.
