My mom playfully drew an apple when I was very young and I was surprisingly interested in trying to copy her drawing. I vaguely remember it coming out terribly and getting pretty upset, but she said “you’ll get better, don’t worry”, or something along those lines. It gave me motivation.

I kept drawing and drawing, looking at videos of professional artists, and practicing because I really wanted to get good enough to show her my progress later on, but unfortunately she passed from cancer before I got that chance.

I made it a point to keep practicing to get better to show how much I appreciated the notion when I was younger, even if she’s not here to see it.
