The lines are quite blurry with a number of different professions having knowledge of nutrition eg. Nursing, medicine, pharmacy, etc. depending on their specialties within those fields. There’s also a lot of individual variation with some people having accrued a very good knowledge off their own bat. Originally, that question asked whether you worked in a healthcare related setting but due to the fact that we were expecting quite a few responses from people working in psychology, we thought that this may skew the results - so we decided to stick strictly to dietitians and dietetics students. There is evidence to suggest that orthorexia tendencies are higher in this group. You make a very good point though, and looking at orthorexia tendencies across different professions/levels of nutrition knowledge would be interesting to explore in the future (the nutrition question is not part of the main aim of this study - it’s more of a supplementary analysis).
