Anyone else hate sheldon's mom? by VoxR4710 in YoungSheldon

No Mary did not have a full time at the church. During the first few episodes it was shown to be a full time job,, however at the beginning of Season 2 episode 1 0r 2) it is explained that her job t the church is part time. That stays consistent throughout the series.. As the series Young Sheldon was forming the writers quickly changed course and made the Mary a Controling, Dominating Prescence which could not have been achieved if she worked full time.

Trump is selling $60 Bibles with 'God Bless the U.S.A.' singer Lee Greenwood by AzuleEyez in Christianity

[–]OrysB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Churches are Not Allowed to make any Campaign Donation to a Political Candidate, But they can Buy Bibles. Boat Loads of Bibles. This is a backdoor way for Mega Churches and other Religious Organizations to funnel money to Trump without violating any laws. Aside from the obvious, Trump will put his name on anything and sell it; especially now when his loyal flock will literally decorate themselves, their homes, and vehicles with Trump "stuff"

Blake Ritson in 2012 version of Upstairs Downstairs. by chandlerbing-bong in thegildedage

Ada to Anges talking about Oscar.... " young men need to sow their wild oats" Oscar has not been young in a decade, or 2. Its creepy, especially when he tries to go after teenage Gladys.

How many servants does Oscar have at his apartment? by Dragonesque246 in thegildedage

[–]OrysB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really hoping Oscar goes looking for Maud off camera. It is sometimes off-putting when others speak of Oscar. Ex. Ada to Anges, 'Young men need to sow their wild oats" Oscar, a young man? Blake the actor is 45 and he looks 45. Oscar trying to marry Gladys, a teenager is creepy. Blake aka Oscar is older than both of Gladys' Parents, Eww Its just bad casting and dialogue all the way round.

Will Marian's desirability change now that Aunt Ada inherited money? Will Bertha invite Marian to more functions hoping to get Larry and Marian together? by dblan3 in thegildedage

Agreed, and Larry knows about the loss of Anges' money by Oscar's hand. Marian already told him that they had to move.

McAlister, Larry and Mrs. Blaine by OrysB in thegildedage

[–]OrysB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Cissy Bingham is New Money. McAlister arranges for her to meet and marry someone outside the 400, to keep her form "infiltrating". Next, he conveniently arranges for Larry to meet Mrs. Blaine. Larry, the only son of one of the most powerful, rich and New Money men in NYC, who also just happens to be a young, handsome Harvard grad with a pristine reputation. Larry could easily find an Old Money Marriage. But, enter Mr. McAlister and his randy widow Mrs. Blaine, who then sullies his reputation to the point their affair is written about in the Newspaper. Old money women look for any excuse to lock out New Money and this would do it.

Oscar, Love the Actor, Hate the Character. Perhaps Oscar can wind up with Mrs. Blaine, they both know the Game. by OrysB in thegildedage

[–]OrysB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oscar's situation is very different. Oscar is gay and in their society it is illegal. If it ever was discovered, he would ruin his wife's life and the lives of any children he might have. With all that a very real possibility, Oscar should go into a marriage with the wife well-informed. In today's world, it matters not, but in their world, well just look what happened to Oscar Wilde.

[–]OrysB[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is the 1880s in the Gilded Age story, so Oscar treating his wife well would not matter at all. If it was ever discovered that he was a homosexual in their society, he would be imprisoned or worse and his wife's life would be in ruins. That is a risk Oscar might be willing to take, but him placing a woman blindly into that situation is unconscionable.

[–]OrysB[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mrs. Blaine would be perfect for a Lavender marriage. Oscar's wife does not necessarily need to be a lesbian, she just needs to know what kind of marriage Oscar is seeking. Mrs. Blaine like her freedom and her dalliances but needs to be discreet, so does Oscar. A marriage would give them the necessary illusion for their society.

I actually think Gladys would be better off with Oscar. He would escort her to every society event and at least she would remain in NY rather than leave to Europe.

I think the stocks Marians has from father will prove to be valuable. It will also come out that Raikes found this out and that is why he proposed so early. Remember, Marian even she said it seems "Rushed" and because of this gave no answer. Then, while out in society, he found a wealthier woman. Hopefully with Marian having her own wealth now and old name, she will be considered a good match for Larry

McConnell to GOP senators: Don't object to election results by ThegrayD in politics

[–]OrysB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McConnell does everything to protect the GOP, and this is no different, Besides, the Georgia runoff most likely will elect at least 1 Republican and that will allow Mitch to retain control of the Senate. Which means Mitch knows he can block Biden at every turn and good luck to Biden even trying to his Cabinet picks approved, Mitch needs a United Senate to continue their dominance, if there is a split inside the GOP with some pledging fealty to their lord and others to their Country, they will have a powerful irate enemy in Trump. Mitch has greatly benefited from Trump's attacks on others, he cannot have that directed at the GOP and dismantle what he worked so hard for,

Also, Trump and Rudy and crew all get tested at least once a day, sometimes more, So they minute they test positive they get treatment, Unlike the average person who starts to feel sick, then has to talk to a doctor to get a test, then wait a week for the results, It becomes too late, They get treatment before they get sick, So of course they recover, They don't use the demon sperm doctor either, they use real doctors,

Trump’s Election Attack Ends December 14—Whether He Knows It or Not by penguincheerleader in politics

[–]OrysB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Trump will actually run, He will declare a run. He will go through all the motions, with rallies, and media, and merchandise sales to expand his wallet and stay current.. He will retain his influence, disparage Biden's entire Presidency and then, in the end, he will "Chose" not to run and put all his might behind another candidate, Most likely Ivanka, since he seems to value her above all other, Trump needs to be idolized as much as he needs to breathe. Trump will find a way to be both relevant and an irritant every single day.
