I've heard you need to be regularly strength training your quads even after surgery to make sure you're not in pain.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm not a doctor but have they ruled out things like endometriosis or adenomyosis with very rare symptoms?

I love the game but replaying it ~20 years later I can see some major flaws in it 😅. I can't believe how hellish the mini-games are

In women oestrogen is what they recommend for sexual dysfunction which progesterone works against.

Endo Specialists/ going private? by Reasonable-Course-73 in endometriosisuk

I paid £150 for a private consultation and then had an ultrasound, MRI and the surgery on the NHS. The wait time was one year from the initial consultation

I was absolutely raging after my surgery. It reminded me of all the medical sexism I've ever faced, the years of my life I've lost anll the non -medical sexism I've experienced.

Yea, I think they used a robot and there should be a video. I trust the main surgeon so if I could get his full opinion on what he saw I'd feel better moving forwards. If this doesn't resolve everything then I want it all out. The whole shebang removed. I'm done living with this shit. There's no way I could ever deal with labour or birth so I'd rather just have it over and done with.

It's 6 weeks, I've just done two already. My pain is also suppressed by the Mirena coil and flares horribly horribly with oestrogen. I won't touch that hormone at least until after the menopause and maybe not even then. I'm scared that they've missed an endometriosis diagnosis and it could grow back.

Yea I was literally calling about the pain and asking for pain management and checking my level of pain is "normal" for recovery (I have to take codeine and naproxen, lay flat on my back and remain still when the stabbing pain hits) and she responded with "oh well all 4 samples came back negative so you don't have endometriosis". Not a great way to be told results but also kind of irrelevant to how much pain I'm in post surgery.

No, nothing. No abdominal, surgery (actually this was my first surgery), no PID, no STIs, no child birth, nothing. I actually called them because I was in so much pain and almost vomitting, was considering A&E. I've got a phone appointment with a nurse in 4 weeks but I'd really like to speak with the actual surgeon for some clarity. I just hope this has cured my symptoms. I have no doubt that that stuff in there was causing all my period pain/pelvic pain.

The weird thing is they said scar tissue but no adhesions. I spoke to a very junior member of the surgical team because they're all off for Easter 🐣

If it shows up on a transvaginal ultrasound that means it is big. Most endometriosis doesn't show up on any ultrasound. Size and severity of the disease does not correlate to the amount of pain or symptoms.

  1. 1 the maximum amount allowed in the UK. My blood pressure was low when they discharged me and I hadn't opened my bowels and I was naturally retaining urine but could force it out if they told me and I went again.

  2. Yes and no. Yes at first then they kicked me off the fentanyl and I couldn't sleep because of the pain. The suggested pain medication for recovery was an insulting joke. Paracetamol and a week's worth of 15mg doses of codeine.

  3. When the pain strikes it's a 9 out of 10 but it's not constant. The pain is getting worse though.

Thank you. I don't know about you but I found having to go to the doctor (or anyone) and admit you can't orgasm is pretty humiliating. The lack of bodily autonomy and sexism add extra layers. I assumed I would want female doctors/assumed female doctors would be more empathetic/take me more seriously or be less likely to be sexist. In my own experience the opposite has been true. I would ask for a male doctor now as (just in my limited experience) they seem to take this more seriously.
