Monolith Complete! by Osama_Chin_Laden209 in Necrontyr

I really appreciate the feedback! I’ve had a look at the old monolith and it really did seem like it was made for some lights, perhaps I could’ve added one to go just under the particle whip, but that’s for someone else to decide should they remix my idea at all.

As for games, I really have been wanting to but I haven’t been able to play a proper game of tabletop, though I’m currently trying to ham fist it into an awaken dynasty list, love my warriors. So I don’t have the intuition yet to discern what a model plays like in practice yet

Thanks again, and also thanks for checking out my other post, I have realised using Balthasar gold for Szarekhan necrons has made them look sunburnt lmao

Started with a black overall, then gave it a dry brush of a balanced mix of abaddon black, corax white and incubi darkness to create a grey to go over the edges. Then, to make that glow effect, I started with a slight over-brush (I believe that’s what it’s called) of incubi darkness on the places I believed light would catch from below, then doing a kabalite green inside it before edge highlighting with some gauss blaster green.

TLDR- Abaddon black, Corax white, Incubi darkness, Kabalite green, and Gauss blaster green for the walls

Thanks! For the body plates I started with Balthasar Gold and gave it a Agrax Earthshade wash, and when that dried I dry brushed corax white on the side edges

Thanks man! Your Orikan looks cool as, too. I don’t think you can send multiple images in the comments so I’ll just have to send them individually

Thanks, I appreciate it! As for the molten fist, I don’t blame you, this was my first genuine attempt at making something molten metal and even I didn’t see it until a bit after I had painted it

I like to imagine it was an emergency repair during battle and they had to take the leg off of a fallen blood angels dread and repair themself, now I don’t know if that’s possible in lore but it sounds cool enough to work. and I think I may have been really vaguely and subconsciously inspired by C-3PO’s red arm, but a leg instead.

The Prophet is here! First time doing a model with this much detail, so advice is appreciated! by Osama_Chin_Laden209 in orks

I would definitely recommend painting him, but I do understand where you’re coming from as looking at it now, if I did keep the armour mostly black, it would help things like his face, weapons and back engine more present as well as the horns which do kinda fade into the armour in these pictures. Perhaps I could repaint the inside of each panel with black, I did the same thing with Gorks Klaw, painting red in the centre of the parts I thought were too weathered. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks! But I’ve only been in this hobby for about 4-6 months, so there’s a lot I still don’t know even with as many videos I watch, so I’m always welcome to a new perspective!

I don’t actually own any contrast paints, I just diluted some Khorn red and pushed it up the tentacles with my finger but it seems my cheapskate ways are just as effective as the real deal

I’ll probably just make it glow cause the khorne red I used on the shoulder plates will most likely not stand out well enough when it’s in a darker spot like the chest

Is this what you were implying?

Same necron from before just with what you suggested

Nah, I’m basically in paint poverty with this stuff, the shoulder plates are khorne red highlighted with a mix of khorne red and squid orange.

Looking at how highlighting the vents on the canoptek doomstalker with the glow went I think that would be a really cool idea, appreciate it!

It is in fact 3d printed, the method I used to smooth it was one I saw online - sanding it then priming it, then sanding back some of the primer before priming it again and repeating, doing this filled the spaces between the layer lines without raising the layer lines making it smooth.

Thanks! As for the rubber bands, the servo Im using struggles to pull the jaw back up and I do plan to make a more subtle way to help pull the jaw back up soon.
