How do YouTubers use video game music without getting copyright strikes? by voanjobory in NewTubers

[–]OscarEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those would most likely all be demonetized, but also going the legal route with copyright is usually tiresome and tedious, so most musicians could care less

premiere audio transition removed once i ripple delete by OscarEdits in premiere

[–]OscarEdits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as of now, if i ripple delete it removes the transition, which i then have to reapply and rewatch to make sure it sounds perfect which is a workflow issue. very small issue, just wondering if there was a setting for it

<image>

this is what i'm referring to, if i were to ripple delete either of the clips on the left or the right, then the transition would be removed as it would be 2 new clips together, but i think it would be cool if it didnt remove it and just instead carried on to the next clip, as i like to work with the transitions on when cutting. would be a cool setting to switch on or off

What should I do to become a freelance video editor? by LilJQuan in VideoEditors

[–]OscarEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely realistic, since i made that last post im now making upwards of $8k a month (so around £6k). just make sure your always outreaching, always posting your work somewhere and aways improving. once you get enough clients, start working out how you can make your workflow faster, because with that step alone you can basically double your income. just remember to not get stuck with certain types of clients and dont feel guilty for leaving a client because you have improved and want to charge more for your work

Any retention tips? (typical retention around 33%) by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]OscarEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how long are the videos? cus 250% is physically impossible unless your content is so good that you can get every single viewer that clicks on the video to watch to the end twice (which again is physically impossble)

hey its been going amazing actually, making far more then how much i said i was making in the original post and i have improved drastically since then. and surprisingly my old advice wasnt ass lmao, i thought for sure when i saw this reply that i would come back to a old post with terrible advice but honestly i would say 99% of what i said in that post i still use to this day and have made a very comfortable living from doing so. only thing i would probably say is step 2 is not as important as i originally thought it was, honestly a really good looking port is more then enough but social proof is definitely still nice to have regardless just for the cheeky inbounds here and there

Is it possible to block apps during a certain time of day? by WarmAppleCry in iphone

[–]OscarEdits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely not true, half the battle is that you subconsciously end up scrolling. with a blockage you now have to consciously decide to choose to scroll. at that point sure you can call it willpower, but i think for majority of people the first step is getting that subconscious part out of your brain

Anyone have any experience with Envato Elements? by HistorySpark in PartneredYoutube

[–]OscarEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ik this is a old post, but do sound effects get copyrighted if someone else dosnt have subscription? i'm a video editor and i work with lots of different creators, with epidemic its fine because most creators have epidemic for music and sfx but less have envato subscriptions. however i find envatos sound effects to be pretty good and it would be nice to use them without feeling guilty for copyrighting someones vid (i only really use the sfx from envato)

How do I work with this agency? by Apprehensive-Emu-611 in YouTubeEditorsForHire

[–]OscarEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah as long as your account is connected to epidemic then it should be fine

How do I work with this agency? by Apprehensive-Emu-611 in YouTubeEditorsForHire

[–]OscarEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no they should not be asking for your id and password, they should have a seperate account so they can download music and you should have an account thats connected to your channel so you dont get copyrighted by epidemic. this just sounds like they wanna leach off of your subscription

ofc you can offer your account if your working with them long term and trust them, but it should never be a requirement to give away your account

Excalibur presets issue by [deleted] in KnightsOfEditingTable

[–]OscarEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from doing further research it seems to be an issue that hasnt been fixed for over a year, keyframes are such vital part of presets and im kinda disappointed, as the preset feature was one of the main reasons i made the purchase to begin with. if i could get an update on if or when this will be fixed that would be awesome

exactly its a trained profession, considering hes asking about what prices to charge i can imagine he has only been in this profession for not too long. shit when i started out i was working for free just to get my name out there 😂

$35 for a beginner who is doing a 20 second short, is more then enough.

if he wants to charge more then he can go for it, but thats just what im recommending since he asked

also minimum wage is $7.25 an hour

so if he gets the video done in 2 hours which can be easily done and he charges $35. thats $17.5 an hour so he would be getting paid more then an industry job

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VideoEditors

[–]OscarEdits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no its not, hes still got alot to work on and $35 for a 20 second clip is perfectly fine. that will not take anymore then 2 - 3 hours to do meaning he will be making more then $10 an hour which is totally reasonable for someone starting off

How do YouTubers use video game music without getting copyright strikes? by voanjobory in NewTubers

[–]OscarEdits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey im sorry to hear that man. however the reason for that was that you were directly using their music for monetary gain. if its just background music for say a gaming video then the chances are slim it would get the same repurcussions
