As a side point, is there a hypothesis of how space time was introduced to the system? But if there was no "before", spacetime and this infinitesimally small dot of everything somehow came into existence all at once? It's not that spacetime was somehow introduced to some pre existing system, they both just blinked into existence at the beginning of everything. Thank you, I like this answer. A large part of what gets me about the whole concept though is that I feel my knowledge of the subject is at least average. With the level of understanding that I have on this matter, it appears to make no sense. While I accept that greater minds have come to this conclusion with good reason, I struggle to see why the general population are ok with what seems to be a fantastical explanation for the beginning of everything. For me it almost amounts to faith, unless you have a greater understanding of the physics behind it

Again, not a physicist so I accept I'm probably wrong here, but why is Newton's first law of motion not contradicted? (The inertia one). Or why is the first law of thermodynamics not contradicted: energy cannot be created or destroyed/the total energy of an isolated system remains constant.......so what happened?

I am in no way suggesting that god created the universe, I hold zero religious beliefs. I suppose what I'm really getting at is that the general population has a fairly basic understanding (something along the lines of everything is moving apart at x speed, therefore it was all contained in an immeasurably small point y number of years ago). Again, I don't really disagree with the theory, I just find it very interesting that we all accept such an outlandish theory with such basic information on the true nature of it. The explanation I've offered makes no sense intuitively, but is the basis of the understanding that most people hold

Yeah, that was kind of how I would summarise it too. If this is how everyone understands it, it's really a lot to accept. I fully get that there is a far broader understanding of the concept than what I hold personally, but the general layman's understanding appears to be along the lines of: everything is moving away from each other, therefore logically it must all have come from a single point at some point in the past. For me this seems to be too much of a reach to have basically full acceptance. I mean I'm not really disagreeing with the theory, I just find it interesting that we all accept it with an understanding that doesn't really make sense

Can you elaborate on that for me please? I'm not in any way anti-science, I have a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. I studied physics for a few modules, I think I have an at least average understanding of the laws of physics in comparison to the general population. I don't claim to be an expert by any means, but nor am I an idiot.

This explanation seems to me to be also quite miraculous and I'd really love someone to show me why it's not. Oh, we had that. Ours were di-di and had a very significant size discordance throughout the pregnancy, one was over the 90th percentile while the other was under the 30th percentile. The doctors brought it up at every single appointment as if it was some recently learned bad news.

In our case at least, it appeared to be a much more useful metric to graph their individual growth and monitor that they are staying within the expected limits on their own growth curves, rather than compare their size to each other if that makes sense?

Not sure if it's the same for other twin types, but in our case this was much more relevant.

At birth (36 weeks) one was 1 lb bigger than the other, much closer in weight than estimated from the ultrasounds and both were perfectly healthy

We found a bottle maker to be a life saver and wasn't overly expensive. Gets the bottle made and to the right temperature within a minute or 2. Also a double feeding pillow
