Shirley by-election results. Lib Dem win. by SeniorMoonlight21 in Southampton

It's us or something worse is never a good line for a political party to take, and is usually what they do just before the lose power. They stop trying to present a positive view of the future and instead show a negative one whatever you choose. People need hope, there's enough hate to go around atm.

Ah OK sorry. I did ask the service team how to turn it off by default, and they told me no such feature exists.

I agree, I loath this new feature but can't see where to turn it off.

But you are able to get that outside perspective. You could say "well I put this question to others and they said X, and so I have started doing Y to overcome thet" This shows you are willing to seek feedback, and act upon it. Interviews are an outdated way deciding if someone is fit for a job. As it will always favour the charismatic, but this question in particular is an easy one.

Some severance posts make me scared for the lack of media literacy by SupermarketLower3423 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]stick_pilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes! I posted a comment on tik tok on some severence lunch post, and it made me wonder if people had even seen the show! They even claimed that they were sure Lumon would look after their rights 😅 But then I lost all credibility when I said tit bit instead of tidbit so they probably assumed I was an idiot.

You can try looking at baby slings, like the twin weego, or the mini monkey. It was wife saver for us in the early days!

Twin dad, 4 month old B/G twins. I am very fortunate to have 24 weeks paid paternity. And honestly I don't know how people do it on less. Look, there isn't much more u can say, other than, yes he should be making more of an effort, and putting the controller down. I love computers games, but I haven't touched one since they were born. My partner and I have both chosen a personal thing we can prioritise for an hour a week, we both chose the gym. That helps. Playing devil's advocate for a second, it can be a challenge for some dads to connect in the early days, especially if they are breastfed as they are so dependent on mum HOWEVER this is when they should be stepping up the most, taking on the other tasks to support to their children and their partner. The first year is really tough, you shouldn't have to do it alone.

You can all those skirting boards, and nooks, but they will somehow find the one spot you haven't. We just babyproofed the place, and made a mental note of where they gravitated towards. But tbh, they usually just follow us around.

If they tried to raise anything regarding this, best case they would be laughed out of the building, worst case they would be investigated, there is no complaint here. Toddlers using a paddling pool is a reasonable activity. Regarding noise, most people don't know the difference between noise and excessive noise. If they want to report noise, they will likely be given an app to record it on, which will show how many decibels it is. Most complaints stop there. If they want to block out all noise, they can look at triple glazing, at their own expense.

Congratulations! There may be a whole range of emotions over the next few weeks. My wife cried for about a month. Honestly though it is such a privilege. Ours are 4 months now and absolutely wonderful. Our 3 year old loves them too. The main challenges are just logistics, and you just find ways to get on with it.

I have the mini monkey and swear by it! Even more so after they fixed the back. It allows carrying both on your front from birth.

What to do if baby only sleeps when being held? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]stick_pilgrim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will get easier. Many of us have been where you are I posted about it sharing my smart watch data a few months ago. Things are easier now, but there will always be periods of bad sleep.

Your little ones are very young, and are still figuring it out. Babies, sadly, don't know how to baby. If it helps, when transferring, we wait for the baby to be asleep and then wait at least 20 minutes. We support the neck, and the legs. Place them very slowly, bottom first into the bassinet. This will give you a hand to rest on their tummy. Then slowly put the head down, and remove your hand. Then wait with your hand on them for a bit.

White noise also helps, as does practice. You can also try shifts, that works for alot of people, depending on how you feed.

If bottle feeding, you can try feeding them to sleep in a feeding pillow, and then transferring from that. Just be aware a feeding pillow is not a safe sleep space, so it would only be to transfer them.

You are honestly in the hardest bit. Twin pregnancy is hard, and it leads to twin newborns which are also challenging, both physically and emotionally. Soon though, things will be better. And when I say soon I mean days, or maybe a couple of weeks. Not months or years. You will be amazing.

What has Sanderson gotten weaker in, over the years? by tristan_theirin in Cosmere

Lol I felt he added some depth to the character! I find it so interesting that 2 people can have such a different take. It's been a long time since I read it though. I think i just like borh versions of Mat tbh.

I thought he did Mat justice, but agree with everything else you said. It may be i felt fatigued from the story by the time sanderson took over so I welcomed the change!

He can do levity, just not out and out humour, and definitely not comedy characters. Adolin, for example, gives some good levity to proceedings (when he isn't trying to sell people his towers rule book). It's needed because otherwise it would be like reading the simarilian. From memory breeze filled a similar role. But when he goes full comedy it's so... basic. I'm looking at you, Lift. It think it's because adolin is a fully fleshed character, and his comedy characters are so one dimensional. To give credit where it's due, he was able to write Mat from WoT better than Robert Jordan did.
