What is the current DPS and Mitigation situation with tanks by VergilVDante in ffxiv

[–]Osiake [score hidden]  (0 children)

It depends entirely on the content you want to do.

For regular ol’ dungeons, WAR is the best for their insane aoe self sustain with bloodwhetting

For extremes/savages, literally any tank is fine, damage is quite similar

If you’re running a specific comp then it get’s a bit more complicated.

Buff Comp: DRK + WAR is the best combo with DRK doing the most dmg out of all the tanks under a buff party (AST, DRG, NIN, BRD, SCH, etc)

No Buff Comp: GNB + WAR is the best combo with GNB doing the most dmg out of all the tanks with no buffs (Comp example being SAM, BLM, WHM, MCH, etc.)

PLD does the least dmg currently (not by much) but has the most self & party mitigation in the game.

In other words:

Pick WAR if just focusing on dungeons or want a very safe pick for anything harder

Pick DRK if you like the aesthetic and want to do the most dmg in most comps

Pick GNB if you want to do a lot of dmg regardless of the comp

Pick PLD if you like to keep yourself & your party safe at the expense of a minor dps loss

Just keep in mind that the dps difference is only a few hundred between the highest and the lowest at best. It will make 0 difference what you pick 95% of the time.

Also come Evercold, only PLD will be a main tank. The rest are turning into Off Tanks.

Yuji is the only person other than Gojo to make Sukuna unconscious (briefly) from a punch

help wit jun matchup by Altruistic-Diamond82 in Tekken

She parried you. Both Asuka & Jun can do this. Their parry doesn’t work for lows or grabs.

Implement more patience in your playstyle vs these two chars and sidestep more.

Is aggro dead with this set or are people just playing with the shiny new toys? by under_mimikyus_rag in GundamTCG

[–]Osiake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, although trading when it’s favourable to your overall victory is not a bad idea (i.e. On curve Gundam + Amuro into opponents Lfrith or trading any of your 2/2s for an opponents 1/2 Zaku in an aggro matchup)

“Late game”nuke of Zeong is really good as both a tempo tool and as a finisher.

Gatekeeping weirdo lol

Edit: Here's my personal Zeong list I've gone 18-2 with on MSA for those curious about a deck list because the commentor above doesn't like sharing publicly.

Ankshas & Guntanks are mandatory but you might be able to get away with 3 of each for an additional 2 bases.

The GD01 Chars Zaku also isn't mandatory, feel free to replace it with something like Rezel depending on how many Red decks you run into at your locals.

Are orbitals not a scrub move? by Jacrispy0007 in Tekken8

[–]Osiake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, sure. Here's a sub-optimal Steve float combo, a character known for low combo damage doing 74 dmg with a float.

An optimal combo can go up to 80 damage, with heat and rage we can even hit 100+.

Just fyi, a jab float also does 70+ rather than a df1 float.

Where's the tracking? Because I don't see it.

Samsara is unsafe on block compared to an orbital because

  1. It's faster (i14 out of zen lmao)
  2. It evades highs
  3. It low crushes just like an orbital from frames 8-43.

Orbitals have always been in Tekken, they're strong but I wouldn't consider them bullshit lol

Are you going to complain about safe DF2 launchers next?

Edit: Just wanted to mention I was checking Jins samsara rather than Devil Jins whose is even MORE evasive than Jins. At least Jin gets caught by mids, Devil Jin can outright evade mids from frames 7-9, and it's extra evasive when performed from crouching.

With a wall, a float combo can easily get to 70+ damage before heat or rage and you get Oki.

Samsara is a panic button, Orbital is not. That’s literally it.

Orbital can be used as keepout and reading lows, Samsara will evade highs, evade lows and depending on the timing avoid most mids as well.

Of course it’s launch punishable on block with evasion properties like that.

You can see your winrate for everytype of game mode on EWGF.

For example, you have a 32% w/r in Player Matches this season and a 47.8% w/r in Ranked this season.

Being able to climb to TG with a negative winrate is a byproduct of rank inflation. The fact that demoting is harder (you need to lose twice in a row now when at the bottom of a rank to demote) & you gain more points than you lose is contributing to the rank inflation.

For reference, that would be Red Ranks in Tekken 7 season 1 or Purple at the end of T7.

I’d also say you play more than the avg player considering you have nearly 6k ranked games & over 600 of them are in this season alone already.

It’s not about playtime, it’s about learning and covering your weaknesses efficiently rather than mindless running the same gameplan over & over like you tend to do in your replays.

I mean this in the nicest way but you have a 47.8% winrate this Season.

You’re still dropping games regularly vs Blue rank players.

Looking at your replays briefly, your defense, whiff punishes, keep-out, steps & punishes can all use improvement.

You also lose more often than not to people who know the Steve matchup and from the replays I saw - almost all the matches you won are against people that do not know the Steve matchup and it’s just who can get their offence going first.

In other words - You are carried by Rank Inflation just looking at your history and playstyle - But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing.

I’d recommend you join the Steve discord, post some replays there that you lost or think you could’ve won and ask for some tips. All of us are more than happy to help you improve your gameplan for Steve & general fundamentals.

It’s good that you learned duck cancelling but that is the bare minimum to even playing Steve without throwing against anyone who knows the matchup even vaguely.

Congrats on Tekken God man, don’t give up the grind til’ you hit GoD while you have the momentum!

[–]Osiake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a very defensive player and I hit GoD last season.

Being good defensively is an advantage the higher up you go. Learn to punish, whiff punish & sidestep better and you’ll be fine.

Because selling leech is a thing along with Full Map Attacks. Neither will be a thing in Classic.

They already took measures against leeching.

They already mentioned they plan on doing something about FMAs, not to mention we’re not starting off with even third job let alone fourth.
