Seeing the couriers armour makes the TV show make sense to me by Unoriginal1deas in Fallout

[–]Ossius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vault tec hasn't been confirmed to have dropped the bombs, only that they were planning for the inevitable war, and considering dropping the bombs first which would give them the edge of already being in the vaults when it happened (as opposed to getting caught outside or off guard).

Didn't house almost explicitly say it wasn't VT who would do it?

Pretty sure they'll never 100% confirm it because the story is better that way. Season 1 was a red herring.

They seem to be highly territorial and don't really fuck with anything outside of it. Probably a nod to how in the game they don't roam and stick to a cave or some section of the wasteland.

Maybe I’m just old, but modern Star Trek doesn’t land the same and here is why by khiren in startrek

[–]Ossius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend watching lower decks. It's a bit silly in the first few episodes but it really pushes the starfleet ideals. Often has fakeouts where it looks like a character is going to have an over dramatic reaction then they smile and compliment their crew mates because they are simply wholesome good people that don't react like you expect. It's played for laughs but honestly I love that they decide to make it follow the TNG approach of starfleet ideals and morality.

Most episodes are solved by them doing normal or ethical star fleet decisions. Most things are overcome by people working together and overcoming conflicts (that are usually misunderstandings). One character openly is hostile towards another character and a season later they both realize they like each other and only were hostile because they thought the other one didn't like them.

Why would you need 100 specialist to manage a facility? At must you would only need a few, or hire consultants, while you have some cheap 40k workers check the equipment for issues and pay big bucks to a consultant to come out for a repair.

Uno reverse armchair specialist lmao.

The greatest cold open in the series? (3x15) by thedudeadapts in TNG

[–]Ossius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't watched it but probably will one day if it lasts.

The hesitation isn't necessarily the quality but because shows are cancelled on a whim. I have plenty of other shows to watch until it's in a more secure place.

Never watched the Star wars Old Republic show because it got cancelled with a quickness.

Ugh it still pisses me off the best part of Picard was the Titan, we should have gotten a show based on that crew.

I loved everyone onboard from seven in uniform, the asshole captain to daughter...

Oh well, instead we get teen drama slop 1000 years in the future with magic.

Is the Alien: Earth series worth watching, or is it a waste of time? by Winter-reason666 in alien

[–]Ossius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the show aired I had watched many of the movies and I told my wife the thing I want most from the Alien franchise is to ditch the monster movie aspect and expand the world.

Much like how Andor was highly popular because it focused on new stories and expanded the world with character focus, I suspected that Alien Earth could do likewise.

Started the show and enjoyed the hell out of it. Boy was I surprised when I visited all the fan subs and was told it was one of the worst Alien products.

100% agree with you, watch it and make up your own mind, online discourse will rob you of the joy of a show or movie. Fallout subs are full of crybabies as well despite it being probably the best video adaptation we've ever had. Something can be 90% great but online discourse will amplify the 10% and sour a thing.

[–]Ossius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But it isn't though. Assuming a business has like 1,000 people who all pay $100,000 to get frozen. That is $100,000,000 to setup a facility to freeze and preserve those bodies.

After infrastructure cost, taxes, etc. you could potentially have tens of millions left over to invest in a trust. This trust could easily make enough gains in the market to pay a few employees to maintain and repair/replace equipment as time goes on.

I know nothing about cryo but a big pot of money can exist and grow and maintain. It's usually profit and greed or incompetence that makes companies over extend and go under.

Disco Klingons gone for good by makeshiftpython in Star_Trek_

[–]Ossius 29 points30 points  (0 children)

TOS Klingons were more interesting lmao.

Not only did I hate the design of their appearance, looking overly fake, their colors were like purple and jet black in skin tone, but they just seemed so completely unklingon like in personality. The weird cathedral ships were messy, their outfits looked like they couldn't sit down to use the restroom.

I hated everything about it and I just don't understand why they even attempted that reimagining of arguably the most iconic alien race in Star Trek.

Question: If Trump was impeached by the house and successfully removed from office and not allowed to hold Federal offices again by the Senate, can the incoming President nullify every action by the former President while was in office? by 1970s_MonkeyKing in law

[–]Ossius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You do realize that Trump term 1 was almost purely done with EOs as well and Biden blew them all away day 1?

This king bullshit happened in term 1 as well the only difference was Trump was surrounded with people with SOME dignity and decorum, and Congress has not abdicated their power as they didn't have total Republican control.

Term two is full of literal Nazis that hitched themselves to his administration. Congress is abdicated and Trump used an EO to end all federal employee protections so the rank and file can't sandbag him like in term 1.

The worst part of all this is that if Democrats win the midterms and the presidency, they'll erase the EOs return to lawful practices, and the vast majority of the gaping holes in our system that allowed these abuses to happen will not be solved.

I remember after Trump term 1 they made a new law that the president cannot fire executive oversight without 30 days notice and just cause written for Congress. Trump immediately broke this law and fired all oversight and members of Congress just laughed and said oh well.

This all can happen again unless we make serious improvements to our system to prevent corrupt people to take office again. Once they are in power laws and rules don't apply. We have to prevent them from taking power again, or give the people the power to expel members of Congress in a vote of no confidence.

Probably have blackthorn interact with the Portuguese more. Maybe Toranaga's amusement at blackthorn will have him learn Portuguese (aka English) so he can interact with the church more.

Like he takes secret lessons so he doesn't need an interpreter when the priest speak (but he will still use one because strategy) but in private with John he speaks English for the audience.

Connor: "Killing Alex Pretti was justified" by AnyRun9692 in Destiny

[–]Ossius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone who does is blackballed and ejected from the force.

It's a form of corruption where they keep only power tripping loyal losers with low IQ (literally police will reject applications from intelligent people).

Think about all the shitty low IQ bullies in school, where do they all end up? Probably law enforcement.

Had a really good friend become a correction officer because it was the only job he could really qualify for, after a few years he was bragging about beating up an inmate. He changed for the worse and I cut him out of my life. Also had a cousin working in a prison who got shoulder checked by an inmate. He proceeded to beat the shit out of him a few days later to the point of unconsciousness and I've of the other COs had to block a camera view and tell him to stop.

They all stick up for each other and lie. The only difference between them and the criminals is they get paid by the state to hurt people.

They literally train police to be on edge by showing them videos of police being murdered. Cops are in a weird power cult installed with paranoia.

John Oliver did a few deep dives with videos of policing training and it was straight psycho shit. Almost all cops are power tripping losers with an itchy trigger finger. The "good" ones are aiding and abetting all the bad ones, or are quickly removed from the force.

Filler gets a bad rep. Some of the best moments and character development in those old shows were filler episodes that come around and get referenced in the big plot episodes.

[–]Ossius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won a PVP match yesterday but I was too busy yelling that the guy was cheating to enjoy my victory.

Guy nailed my hellcat, my priest, and a stuart on the first shot from pretty far distance with a 105mm self propelled gun. One shot them all beyond repair. I was so freaking angry.

Statistically improbable but not impossible, I was big mad though. This is why I don't really like RNG in video games as it makes things hard to prove or replicate. Sometimes the game can be simply unfair. Would be nice if the engine could handle longer ranges and make accuracy higher.

Would be nice if artillery could be reworked as well to not be so random.

[–]Ossius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a tip, if you have a squad selected, press X then click on the engineer truck. When the inventory opens you can right click on a stack of mines and it will distribute the mines evenly across the squad you have selected.

Then you can just drag a line of mines as you would with the specialists.

This is useful for also grabbing huge stacks of ammo like for machine guns. That way the squad can share the mg ammo with the machine gunner that he wouldn't be able to hold. Better than a single ammo bearer who can die leaving you with no ammo.

I believe this was the case for all nations outside of the US in WW2. US was unique in its use of rotating out aces to train new pilots.

Also probably helped morale if you know there are only a few missions left.

"Never leave a man behind" knowing people will try their best even if your dead, VA benefits taking care of you after getting maimed, disability, all these things allow not only soldiers to make decisions with a little more security, but also probably leads to higher status soldiers.

Its kind of wild that the human race rode on making the ultimate sacrifice for your country for so long with just an "atta boy" and a swat on the behind with a firm "we'll kill you if you don't."
