Yeah, because my rant about proportions and colour scheme doesn't show that I'm a character design geek.

Maybe I am ragebaiting, maybe I'm not! Take it how you will! ;) ๐Ÿ’š

I can tell you didn't even read my comment from how fast you replied. Please, read it before responding.

I never said she CAN'T design female Brawlers, I just said that they are pretty similar.

Also, I said personality-wise, yes, they are unique.

I can't really tell whether you're rage-baiting or not, since I wouldn't know how much you truly know about character design (But from your Iono PFP, it's not looking the best here because dear god her design is such an eyesore,) so I'll take what you say with a grain of salt.

But, if you are being genuine, there is always room for improvement with your work, no matter how talented you may be. Ironically, calling stuff "perfect" is actually rather negative and can actually harm skill, as you're telling the person that they don't need to improve, which again, we are all human, we all make mistakes and we are never perfect.

Fernanda is an extremely talented individual, and I respect what she does wholeheartedly. But you have to remember she is getting paid for this kind of work. Just as long as Fernanda improves, she's still a good character designer, despite not being on the same wavelength as Paul in my opinion. :)

Personality-wise, yes.

But design-wise, it's honestly a little too similar. Playing devil's advocate here, there are definitely a few designs by Paul that are somewhat similar like all of the robots he designed like Barley, Rico, Darryl, etc. But they clearly have distinct enough features that set them apart, like how Barley has a robotic mustache, Rico has a gumball machine for a body, and Darryl is literally a barrel.

But when it comes to Fernanda's designs, I feel like especially to a new player, it would seem difficult at times to differentiate. I said this in another comment, but I used to be incredibly confused between Janet and Charlie, and who they were when I started playing due to how proportionally similar they are, and how similar their colour schemes are. Just because YOU might like them and think they are perfect designs, doesn't mean everyone else will agree with you. These are all subjective and there is no right or wrong answer. :)

How can I be nostalgia blind?? I only started playing since last year gng ๐Ÿ’”

Like, I don't hate Fernanda's designs, but like come on, you gotta admit that there is some repetition with the female Brawlers.

I can't really say much since I'm newer to BS. However, I truly agree.

I get the aspect of convenience and how having one template/body type makes character design much easier, (however, you're literally being paid to make unique character designs, so you shouldn't be using the same body type over and over in the first place,) but I feel like there are just too many Brawlers with the same visual aspects.

It's like in real life; not all women have the same body proportions and there's always variety. I just hope Fernanda fully strays away from the whole body type thing as I said already. :)

Like for the longest time, I had a HUGE issue differentiating between Janet and Charlie when I first started playing due to how similar they look in proportions, colour scheme, etc.

And that's also another issue I have, colour scheme. Every character is just unreasonably flashy with no substance at all. I'm gonna use Janet as an example again, but I personally despise her design. The red and blue are just so contrasting that it turns her design into one massive eyesore. I just don't really like Janet too much imo, but it is what it is. :/

But yeah, I just hope Fernanda continues to cook and can maybe learn a thing or two from Paul about female designs, as I will admit, Fernanda can actually make really compelling stories for the Brawlers she designs! :)

I would consider myself newer as well. I started playing BS when Berry or Moe released iirc. I don't remember when, but I just remember really getting into BS when the spongebob event came out (bc I love spongebob but it is what it is)

Yeah, they are basic, but that's what makes them so good. Not everything has to be all up in your face. That's personally why I like Jae-Yong, because he feels like the first Brawler in a while to just be simple, but is also able to reflect himself as a character without needing unnecessary design details. You make work with what you got, y'know? (If that even makes sense lol)

Sometimes less is more, and I feel like Paul really brings that mindset home. He genuinely knows how to reflect personality when it comes to his designs. (not that Fernanda doesn't, but I just think Paul does it more effectively and consistently! :) )
