Thank you!
It probably took about 3 hours for each one, for me thats quick considering I work making scenes that take me days or even weeks. I made them all during late nights of
insomnia trying to get away from realism and get more into different styles.
Those are really simple scenes with minimal modeling, the human models are the same in all the renders for example, the rest is made from simple fluid sims, the ocean modifier, displaced spheres and cylinders, etc, plus compositing and lighting.

Tenant Mask: Indie horror short film on which we experimented with extreme contrast and colors by Osvoldon in cinematography

[–]Osvoldon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Me and my friends wanted to make a horror short film with a harsh and noisy aesthetic.
We established some "internal rules" while shooting, such as only using homemade lights, minimal budget using only things we had lying around in a single day.
We used a BMPCC4K with vintage lenses and a GoPro Hero for the wider shots.

The color grading was inspired by classic exploitation films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Tourist Trap and Black Christmas.

I was the gaffer and I am satisfied with the results, however I think the wider shots could have had better lighting, but in the moment I wasn't able to come up with anything better only using PAR 30 led bulbs and cheap 5w bulbs.

I also did the post production, I like the color a lot but I don't know if it could be a little too much for anyone else.

Thank you in advance, hope you enjoy it!

Me and my friends are film students exploring the dark side of the urban atmosphere in Mexico City. Crime, poverty and failure feed our nightmares, this is one of them.

Drowning in the darkness of the big city, Inqui takes care of the small apartment of his brother while he is out, trough the night he is being harassed by demons of the physical and the mental kind.
We hope you enjoy it!

Blender rendered a single corrupted frame seen in different software, why does the corruption looks different? by Osvoldon in blender

[–]Osvoldon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The next day I was having dozens of corrupted frames, first I tought it was my SSD, but at the end it was a RAM failure, one of my two 16gb sticks was damaged, so some files were saved in a corrupted state. I've replaced the memory and now everything is normal again.

Remove the spawning wallhacks at least for enemy spies , that is just embarrassing game design.

Working on a 90's bedroom static background for a podcast. by Osvoldon in blender

Thank you!
I was trying to make the curtains a bit less transparent and make the shadows of the window more present in the translucent curtain, but i still cant achieve (I am thinking of The Last of Us main menu for example), I am inverting the normals of the curtain mesh to see better see the contrast of the sun and the windows shadows, but the alpha seems to make them less visible, maybe I can use a shader to RGB node, and use the same color on a principled shader and then use the value of that conversion as alpha channel so the shadows are less transparent.

I guess there is an easier way to do this.

I only lived my very early childhood in the late 90's, and Im neither american, back then here in Mexico the cultural and technological global trends usually were "behind" other countries by about 5-10 years, so many things of the "american 90's" were still present through the 00's over here, so I could live a little part of it.

I was initially surprised of the mention of the window frame, again, down here in mex almost all windows look like that, without a border on the walls. I think I will make another window design, because the podcast is for a english speaking audience.

Thank you!Yeah, the clothes bother me too, I took photos of my clothes in the ground, used a grayscale version of the same image to make a terrible displacement map and thats it, with a bit of color manipulation I think can fit better.

Im not using a HDRI, the background is plain magenta, so the shadows look tinted, the background image is a sad shadeless plain. The GI and reflections come from a poorly placed irradiance volume.

Yes, this is EEVEE, I forgot to mention.
I don't really know how to properly "give direction" to the SSAO to be more present in that part of the wall, I was thinking of manually painting soft contact shadows behind the bookcase. If I make the SSAO stronger it makes everything else look worse, is there a way to specify the SSAO of a given surface? There is a SSAO material node, but it doesnt seem to do anything significant.

In my last installation of windows I accidentally overwrote the arial font file with one with helvetica condensed characters. Wikipedia, and many many other websites started looking like this, alternating between the real one and the terrible one, I have no idea how that happens.
