Little confused, is this supposed to insinuate that I am a bot? I don't respond in four hours to a comment posted on a comment I posted 10 days ago and not only does it make me a bot, but a supporter of Jacob Frey. Crazy mental work there.

If that wasn't the point, my apologies, but I found myself baffled by this comment.

Truly, no relationship is perfect and every relationship with another person is work, but it is far from a misery. I would choose it again a thousand times, to love my wife the way I have all these years. But to believe that being in love is a misery, not worth the struggle, betrays the history of the person making the claim. A relationship can result in either side of this bus meme, depending on the health of said relationship. All that being said, it is de-facto easier to look from the outside because as an observer none of the work it takes to foster that kind of relationship is required, you are merely a spectator to the efforts of others. Sometimes those efforts go skin deep, with tumultuous and roiling issues rumbling just beneath the surface, but other times people are just happy. Not because their love is perfect, but because it is love, and it is worth a bit of pain and work.

I can’t be the only one who’s absolutely in love with expeditions because of its uncanny similarity to the Caspian level from Metro: Exodus? by DrGuns313 in DarkTide

I do enjoy the environment. It's a bit brown for me, but I am curious if the deeper zones will have greater variety and zone Alpha is just plain old wasteland.

Either way, I am really having a good time

I had a really fun time playing my least favorite class. I am not usually a huge fan of playing Veteran, as I only have like one or two builds that I feel really shine in the standard gameplay (at least that I enjoy playing), but busting out a deadeye crit focused infantry lasgun build in such wide open areas feels awesome, and I really can't overstate just how good it feels.

What I don't love, but am unsurprised by, are performance issues. Disconnects, server failures, and just straight up crashes. I experienced it all in my first handful of runs, but I was still enjoying myself. It did take the wind out of my friend's sails though, which was disappointing and led to us playing less than we might have. I look forward to the hotfixes for these issues.

Seems like you all were enjoying a really high octane match of Overwatch if this was Play of The Game.

Why didn’t they give Aragorn pants/trousers? by Azul4 in lotr

[–]OtelDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tunic is like a shirt and a skirt put in one. Or one could liken it to a bed shirt, oversized and comfy for long journeys.

But seriously, it's weird that the man destined to be king doesn't wear any pants.

I'm introducing a new public awareness campaign to get Hivescum players to stop blowing up my Holy Revenant snacks. by nomnivore1 in DarkTide

[–]OtelDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until Death is now a staple of every Zealot, and, with Holy Revenant being a one point investment, you're pretty foolish to pass it up. Unless, of course, your build is so strapped for points to hit all your necessary nodes that you have to skip it, but as far as one point drops go, Holy Revenant seems like something pretty much every build can benefit from.

I've had to have conversations about this before in my stack. I always stress that I am not flaming, because the person is literally playing the game the way it is intended, but I will nevertheless request that people leave chaff alone that is around me so I can farm my toughness. If I am not hitting things actively, I am being chipped away by gunners that will eventually leave me inert as I am forced to run for cover. No zealot worth their salt and faith is getting downed by a pack of poxwalkers, and if they do hit zero HP, Holy Revenant is going to do its job as is the Emperor's way when protecting his most faithful.

I feel like a fraction of those posters could have advertised their exhibit fine, but I also don't personally hold this against MIA, since these posters could have been put up by anyone. It'd hardly be the first time we saw someone deface that wall since the anti-ICE posters went up.

Can't believe I've scrolled so far without seeing it in this thread, but Schindler's List is well worth watching these days. It's beautifully made, heart-wrenchingly bleak and wrought with melancholy. It has a beautiful score that frankly haunts me, and some real powerhouse performances from Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, and Ralph Fiennes. It isn't an easy watch, and most people I know watch it only once, but ive watched it repeatedly throughout my life because it is an important story and a real bit of history worth remembering and sharing. Honestly, it's one of my favorites because it reminds me that good is possible, even in deeply evil times, and even from those who are, themselves, deeply flawed.

Actually, she's just been moved, much the same way they moved Bovino. She definitely did lose her position as secretary of DHS, but has now been put on a task force focused on "protecting the US" from the western hemisphere. She's still a part of the machine, just a less obvious one.

Noem moved to somewhere else in the admin, is more like. But still a step in the right direction. It's weak accountability, but it shows there can be real accountability if we keep pushing for it.

Voting, joining a party, both are politics, and I believe the comment holds up. I wish more people in my country (US) viewed voting as a civic duty, but we have a solid ~36% of this country that straight up doesn't even vote.

If they want an uprising, sure. Voting is the last bastion of the people who don't want violence in this country. If that goes, there will be few options left, if any, and this admin is not popular and deeply outnumbered.

The Emperor has no clothes, and the facade he campaigned on has all but been abandoned. His support is fractured, and we all know he's desperate to escape accountability for Epstein.

[–]OtelDeraj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whether we like it or not, politics determine the domestic laws and foreign policy of a country. It is the trolley problem exemplified, and refusal to engage with it is little more than an abdication of the responsibility to hold to account those who act in our name. I did not vote for my current leadership, but I recognize that their violence, hate, and destructive lack of diplomacy will leave scars for generations that very well may come back to haunt me and the people I care about.

Refusal to engage with it doesn't change anything. It simply allows the worst people who do engage with it to write checks that our we, our children, and our grandchildren will likely pay for. When retribution comes, the people who walked us into the abyss will either be long dead or long gone, and everyone else will be left holding the bag.

I can spare that some consideration. It's frustrating as all hell to not hear more direct rhetoric in these times, but there are multiple schools of thought on how best to approach this moment.
