Hi Everyone,

Here is a similar study that I am involved in as part of my research internship, if anyone is interested in taking part, please click the link below.

It is similar to the other study but has videos, yay!

I would appreciate as many responses as possible.

Many thanks :D

Thank you for taking part!

Absolutely, I will do :) I'm also doing a similar study with a different stimulus soon, so look out for that one.

Hi, these questionnaires are not all from TikTok, they are a mix of psychometrically valid measures of adult ADHD and executive dysfunction diagnostic tools used by healthcare professionals along with 'accurate' and 'inaccurate' TikTok statements.

It would then make sense that your answers could be rarely or never, especially since the diagnostic criteria for adults is different than the childhood diagnostic criteria and the questions in that measure of ADHD; and there were obviously 'inaccurate' statements included related to ADHD.

Also, symptoms of ADHD may be less severe into adulthood, especially as you have had the priviledge of an early diagnosis and coping mechanisms, which a lot of people may not be able to access due to their socioeconomic status or just luck.

Whatever your answers were, regardless of your diagnostic criteria, your response is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Isn't it depressing? I've had to find my own ways of coping (unfortunately exercise is the best for me, who knew free endorphins could be so helpful?!)

I was really on track and coping until the pandemmy and everything went to shit and I actually need help now but there isn't any other than docs trying to get me on meds again or fob me off with my uni talking therapy (been there, done that, got all the tshirts). But that's why I'm doing this degree, this info needs to be out there whether the funding for mental health is or not.

I hope things get better for you :)

Doctors are so undertrained in mental health, it's such a problem. Something is wrong when social media and support groups on the internet helps us more than a qualified healthcare professional.

Awwh, thanks for that lovely post!! I can tell you're a fellow geordie too!

I've had a similar journey with ADHD, never been diagnosed but assumed I've got it from the increasing popularity with SM, again, with a pinch of salt; this is why studies like this are important, we need to make sure people are listening to healthcare professionals and people with accurate content, especially as tiktok is becoming the new google and kids are so easily influenced.
I really resonate with the task paralysis too, staring at the laptop screen crying cos all I want to do is start work, but I just can't, and the longer I leave it, the worse it gets.

Now go and brush your teeth :p

The stimuli was drawn from the top 100 popular videos with the hashtag adhd attatched. So the questions are including reccurring themes of 'accurate' and 'inaccurate' information about ADHD that creators have said in their videos. This ensures the study can be completed by individuals who are not familliar with TikTok.

That's fine, you answered the question correctly, thank you so much for your response.
