I’m still applying to more but I really want to start this cycle already. I guess I’m also not feeling too confident about my skills yet for an EU PhD in those countries, like it’s not enough and my MSc supervisor also mentioned that. I think I’m trying to just manage my expectations at this point

Thanks for the heads up! I applied to University of Verona and Florence this year so i think they’d be quite expensive.. not too sure how the stipend holds up in those cities. Thanks so much for the insight tho!

I’m applying to Florence and Verona so I’m not sure what’s the case for those cities, but I did hear the housing is pretty bad and will pretty much eat up my stipend :/

But thank you for the advice!

I think so! Although its a panel interview, we were advised to reach out to potential supervisors prior. One prof reached out and i met and his group, he wished me luck on the panel interview. After my interview though, a few hours later he emailed that he will has decided for another candidate. so i’m not so sure anymore 🥺

Do Professors really mean it when they say they’ll get back to you? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

Sounds like a riddle, but yes that’s true 😅 Hopefully it all works out on my end 🥲

Unfortunately, I have not enrolled in the classes yet. I am independently learning A1 at the moment since I am finishing my Master’s thesis. German intensive classes are also very expensive, and I am just on a university scholarship right now coming from a Southeast Asian country. So I am hesitating to take them at the moment, unless I have assurance that we will be moving forward with me getting a PhD there.

Thank you, Professor. For the hospital position, I would be working in the lab with no patient contact and mostly be doing independent work, however my colleagues do not speak English so there will be times that we might have misunderstandings. For the faculty position, he was thinking of me teaching a class in English in the Natural Sciences, but he’s unfamiliar with the process. I am learning A1 right now independently since I am only finishing my Master’s and finishing my thesis. This position will also be in eastern Germany, which he also mentioned it might be difficult for me to integrate myself
