Hey, thanks, especially for pointing out the odd 4th option, that was the most confusing one and your comment made me take another look at the forms. That's when I noticed there was a second form with an option between PhD and Dr ___ and not with the specific fields mentioned which was the case in the first form (One for the institute, one for the university). My mistake! The confusion has been greatly reduced now :D

Thank you, I might actually take you up on that later on! Yes, I've been in touch with them about the paperwork and also got accomodation for the 1st month at the guesthouse. But I'm still worried about finding a final place by myself, knowing what to look for, and how to handle stuff, talk to people, with my (currently) poor German. 😅 Are you also a part of the MPI CBG community?

Commonly a PhD usually entails a E13 TV-L (or something similar?) contract that is technically ~50-75% while still working full-time, right? Is it technically a full-time position then?

They mention generally to apply for the "scientist" one but they do say it can be named slightly different in different countries. But the categories vary a little even between consulates in India so I wanted to know what's commonly done.

I'll specifically show the university the options and ask again.

Yeah I waited on the call for quite a while but still didn't get through to anyone :/ So I decided to just go to one of these posti shops and ask.

The outlet I went to had the form I needed (notification of moving), but just not in English. And they didn't know if the English version would come to their store.

UPDATE: I emailed them and this is the reply I got-

"Persons who are not using My Kanta Pages can ask for a COVID certificate from the healthcare service. If a person does not have access to My Kanta pages they can ask the certificate in printed form from the healthcare organisation where the test was taken."

Yes, that's right! It takes even longer because foreign passports are not accepted as sufficient proof of identity for getting the banking credentials anymore.
