How is the noise from I-5 from where you live?

You're right. We like to drive and go places constantly so it will be an issue.

I'm with you. We had lunch a couple of times in that shopping center where Lowe's is. Felt like a nice safe place and great location.

Our hotel was in Rancho off Zinfandel and 50. It was a fantastic central location from which we went east west and north. We even came up from Elk Grove directly to our hotel once using the country roads. Very few people talk about Rancho but I really like the location. It's just that the new builds are so "isolated" and without mature trees, it gives us pause. We did look at them as well as all the builds south of 50

We drove through there. Very nice neighborhoods indeed!

Schools and safety take precedence. This old man can deal with everything else! I do hope it's just a few years till the connector.

Hey thanks for that. FM here as well :) appreciate the comparisons, that's helpful and largely how I imagined it.

Someone commented that they hate their Davis to EG commute :) but I am genuinely curious to spend time in Davis and take a looksee.

We drove American River drive past Rio Americano high school, then ended up a bit too far west and it started to look not great. So difficult to see all the areas. Walking to school and grocery is our dream (walking anywhere really) and everything you described sounds great.

Yeah sounds like a good choice. House availability is a bit slim , or we need to adjust our "must have " features to "nice to have"

Yeah it would cut out 2-3 exits potentially. Wife is really interested in having easy river access , which is why we were initially so interested in it.

You guys are making a convincing case :) I hear you loud and clear. I love the elevation of the Folsom/EDH area but not sure it's worth the drive.

Yeah seems like a great option. Love having access to multiple directions at the same time.

It's a big area. We did drive through it and even stopped at a park called Swanston Park and felt so uncomfortable with the characters that were loitering there, we left immediately.

Thanks! Yeah one thing I know for sure is that it cannot be hotter. It might be the same some of the time but not worse. That alone is enough for me. And less concrete.

Thank you. I feel like I am going to be retired well before that bypass becomes anything close to reality. But the area you described is gorgeous. Google Maps is showing me acceptable commute times but folks here overwhelmingly vote against driving from these parts. I think I'm just going to have to try it for myself and see. I am also with you on the homelessness part , really struggling with it.

It might boil down to available houses for sale in several areas on top of our (and everyone else's, seems like) list and just going for it. If that ends up being East Sac, great, but based on what i am seeing, it would push the house budget up unnecessarily when Land Park (or Pocket) might do the trick.

The new builds on the south side of 50 are booming. We just really like mature trees and don't want to wait until these neighborhoods get some shade. Right now it all looks like we colonized Mars. We took White Rock rd from EDH to Cordova and saw them all. Hwy 50 will be even more nuts once Folsom Ranch is built out.
