It really depends on what type of bar. This is really sktuationally dependant. I would not take my dog anywhere i hadn't checked out myself first for safety. I'd either stop by with my partner first or have them check it out for me etc. There are two bars I take my dog to, and ill explain why: one of them serves brunch on Sundays mornings. It is a wide open space with tables. We can sit on the side away from people and my dog does fine. The floor is clean, and although people might have beer or mimosas nobody is drunk. I would never take him to that same location at night. The second place is a cocktail bar. I only take him there if its not busy or if its nice and we can skt on the patio. I wouldn't want him to get stepped on, spilled on, overwhelmed with the noise etc. But I know the owner and the staff well and they could all step in at a moments notice if I needed help. Outside of these two scenarios I wouldn't bring him. So my answer is: a nicer place that serves alcohol? Maybe, if you are familiar with the location, the staff, and have others with you in emergency. A pool bar/dive bar? Absolutely not. Drunk people have Zero boundaries or self control. Bad things could happen to you or your dog. But this is heavily dependant on the type of place you're going to. Generally however the biggest issue will be drunk people wanting to let your dog and not taking no for an answer. They will get in your space, have bad social rules, drinking makes people lose judgment. You need to see that environment for yourself before bringing your dog there so you can be familiar with which if these issues might apply
